Carl Peterson is rumored to be let go at the end of the season.
Larry Johnson has been suspended for one game.
And they play the Titans this week. This could get ugly.

That franchise needs to be ripped apart...Peterson blew it in a lot of ways and Herm hasn't been able to put it together.
Really, if you can't identify a QB or a defense, you're going to be in trouble.

What probably put it over the top is him making an offer for Gonzo, then retracting it and asking for a higher price. That's just wrong on so many levels (and the reason why the Packers don't have Gonzales right now).

GREEN BAY — The Green Bay Packers thought they had a done deal to trade for nine-time Pro Bowl tight end Tony Gonzalez, only to have the rug pulled out from under them by the Kansas City Chiefs minutes before the trading deadline Tuesday when Chiefs general manager Carl Peterson raised the asking price.
According to two NFL sources familiar with the negotiations, the Packers had drawn up the trade paperwork and sent it to the Chiefs to finalize the deal — a third-round pick for Gonzalez — only to have the Chiefs call them 10 minutes before the deadline to say it would take a second-round pick to get the deal done.

That's a move you just don't do.
Even the Giants upped their asking price to a 4th rounder (thinking they'd meet in the middle form their 6th rounder offer).

According to the source, the Packers, New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles all made offers — the Giants offering a fourth-round pick, the Eagles and Packers offering third-rounders. The source said the Atlanta Falcons and Buffalo Bills made better offers but Gonzalez wasn't interested in playing for either team.
I find it hard to believe that the Eagles offered a third; otherwise, they would have been sure to leak that information to save face.
Also, if the Eagles and the Packers both offered a third, and both were deemed acceptable teams by Gonzalez, why would Peterson go with the Packers? Odds are the Packers will finish with a better record than Eagles (or the Packers will win their division and make the playoffs), so the Eagles would have the more valuable third rounder.

Unless he was concerned about revenge, since Philly plays KC next year.
Don't forget the incentive-laden clause in the trade that would've robbed the Chiefs blind. Peterson probably didn't want to deal with the Birds for that fact alone. This also confirms Sal Pal's report that a 3rd would've (originally) gotten the deal done.
Trading with the Birds is like dealing with a Volkswagon dealership...

The other thing is that the Birds didn't offer a 3rd; Domo said it was a conditional 4th. The conditions alone probably would've filled the breakfast page on Reid's IHOP chart.

I also imagine the Eagles dangling Lito Sheppard in every trade discussion and just irritating the shit out of other GMs.
They are like the guy in your fantasy league that keeps offering you Rudi Johnson as part of a trade.

BTW, did you guys see that Kellen Winslow confirmed that he was in the hospital for a staff infection?
He basically was pissed off because the Browns used him as an excuse (saying HE didn't want it revealed) and I imagine he didn't like all the stories that came out of that.
The Browns obviously (IMO) wanted to avoid the utter embarrassment of confirming their 6th staff infection in the last couple of years.
How does a pro team have 6 staff infections over 3 or 4 years? Somebody should be held accountable over there because they clearly have a pretty serious problem.

Calling Dr. Jules... Calling Dr. Jules...
Why are staff infections so prevalent in locker rooms?
Bugs on the floor?
Sharing needles?
Jockstraps?
I've always wondered about this.

Now Winslow is facing discipline from the Browns for essentially revealing that the team has a problem with preventing staph infections.
The union needs to earn their money and step in to protect him from this bullshit because no player should be fined or suspended when the organization lies about him, forcing him to expose their serious issues with the teams' health.
