The union needs to earn their money and step in to protect him from this bullshit because no player should be fined or suspended when the organization lies about him, forcing him to expose their serious issues with the teams' health.
I agree completely. They laid this on him to cover their own asses and when he decides he'd rather people know the team is incompetent than hear all the rumors circulating about him, they threaten action?
It's a weird story. I always thought Winslow was a weird guy, so it didn't strike me as particularly weird (for him) that he was being a weirdo about disclosing his illness. Now that the rest is coming out, the Browns look terrible, IMO.

I hope this Winslow/Browns stuff continues and my wish of him playing for Philly will have some realistic odds.

I like Winslow as a player, but it is funny how these "situations" end up happening to the malcontents. The guy always seems to find a way to stir the pot, whether he intendeds to or not.

I'd take that pain in the ass TE over the current TE with the constant pain in his vagina.

F-d, are you referring to the immaturish "I'm a soldier" rant when he was at Miami? Or are you talking about something more current?

There was also the motorcycle accident and then verbal jousting with Joey Porter (which wasn't a big deal). I think there was something early on that involved his father, and showing that his old man was a bit less polished than I had originally thought. I just can't piece together the whole situation (it might've been in the aftermath of the crash).
It's neither here nor there, though, I would take him in a heartbeat over that loser at TE that we have now.

I wouldn't call the motorcycle incident him being a pain in the ass. It's not as if he's the first young person, or pro athlete for that matter, to jump on a crotch rocket that they had no business being on.
He mouthed off with Joey Porter? Are you kidding me?

Just the general pain in the assiness. That was one incident, obviously, but it seems like it's always been something with him.
He had the motorcycle accident. I thought I remember him and his Dad having some dumb stuff to say when he was drafted. He held out as a rookie, he skipped workouts this past off-season.
He nicknamed himself "The Chosen One". There was a lot of stuff that came out after the combine when he was there...just coach's and scouts saying they didn't like his attitude.
I think he's a really good player, but his reputation is "pain in the ass".

A hold out? Not going to some off season workouts? Oh no! That kind of stuff never happens in the NFL.
I understand you're using that stuff to paint a narrative of the guy to hold up your "pain in the ass" mantra, but come on.

Okay, BMA, we get it...you like Kellen Winslow. I don't think anyone is debating his skills on the field. And in isolation all of the incidents aren't unique to athletes, but it is a red flag that all of it can be attributed to Kellen Winslow.
Again, I would take the guy in a heartbeat, but it comes with a bit of caution because he's not immune to stirring it up.

You can disagree...I'm just letting you know what he reputation is.
I'm not saying he's a bad guy. I never met him. He just has the tag (and this is common knowledge, so let's not pretend this is the first time any of us are hearing it) that he has an attitude and can be a pain in the ass.

BMA, have you seriously never heard or read the negative stuff about Winslow?
I'm not saying I formed this opinion on my own or I believe he's a bad guy. I think his reputation coming into the league was probably about the same as DeSean Jacksons and he just has the rep of a bit of a prima donna who can be a pain in the ass.

What do you mean? He wasn't considered a bit arrogant/cocky with questions about his attitude when he came in the league? You and I both know he was.

Jackson had no where NEAR the negative that Winslow did.
That's what I'm saying. Winslow's negatives were plastered all over the Letterman show for cryin out loud

Winslow's "attitude" was more well known because he was coming out of the "U", which I believe, has a class for that kind of thing. DeSean's wasn't as well publicized until he dropped into the Eagles lap down in the second round. But Jackson also dropped in the draft because he is 5'1 and 110lbs.

This is an insane circular argument.
He had his negatives plastered all over the national media and BMA just heard he had a rep as an asshole 15 minutes ago.
I give up, Fellas.

It could definitely be overblown (he's played on quite a few poor teams and I don't remember him ripping teamates publicly very often...maybe a Charlie Frye or Garcia bust, if anything).
I'm only saying that same players have a reputation as being pain in the ass prima donnas and some do not. He's one who DOES have that reputation.

Plus, if the Eagles do make a move for him, they'll have to clear it with his Dad first (he might not want his son playing for a white head coach).
Then, if KW1 approves, they can begin the negotiations for a contract extension with his agent, Drew Rosenhaus.

OK, and all I'm saying is perception is greater than reality in regards to Winslow, in my opinion.
That "soldier" rant was some of the most overblown media stuff I've ever seen in my life.

I like the guy and would certainly welcome him over anything they currently have or anything this regime would draft or sign, but I think Lito Sheppard has been healthier than Kellen Winslow, Jr. That's not so good.
The point is moot because there's no way the Eagles will accept "another team's garbage" unless that team is willing to accept nothing more than a 5th round pick in return.
