OK, and all I'm saying is perception is greater than reality in regards to Winslow, in my opinion.
That's fine, but you started with the idea that you think it's overblown and are basically saying everything reported on him is "not a big deal".
I wouldn't put Winslow in the same category as Owens or Plax, for instance, but he's definitely got some questions to answer over the rest of his career.
He could take a turn for the worse when he gets older or separate himself from his old reputation over time. The choice is his.

Speaking of Plax...did anyone else saying to Coughlin "F-you" after Coughlin calmly asked why he took a stupid personal foul? Plax is another very good player who doesn't seem to get it or want to get it.

I read something like Coughlin asked him what he was doing when he came off the field after a penalty and Plax said "Whatever the fuck I want to".
That guy has got to be a world class asshole. How the Giants manage him with so little getting out is a mystery to me. They should teach a class for the Eagles front office and coaching staff.

Right but that's a far cry from your shit about me just hearing about his rep. I've heard about it and I disagree with it based my own opinions and on conversations I'm aware of from guys who have played with him and from coaches who have coached him.
"Pain in the ass" is something I've never heard from guys who have stepped onto the field with him.

If they have anything bad to say about him (and I'm not saying they do) it wouldn't come out until the organization cut ties with him.
All I'm saying is he has that rep and he's been in the news quite a bit for such a short career because of all that little stuff.

So Larry Johnson spit his drink in some woman's face, then spit at her a couple more times after his bodyguards tackled her and everyone was escorted outside.
Word has it that Carl Peterson's asking price just went up to seven 1st round draft picks and one 6th rounder.

The Seahawks game last night has Holmgren heading to San Fran as the GM at some point... Wonder if Fat Bastard would request a transfer to coach for his Sensei???? We could only be so lucky! NOT!

Yeah, really - Reid's got full power here, so the only way he'd coach for the Great Walrus is if he got ousted by a coup.
Maybe Martz didn't want the HC job - not that it matters, because getting rid of Nolan is addition by subtraction.

Interesting report from Lucha Latte:
3. I think if the Fox report on Brett Favre is correct about him advising the Detroit Lions with tips on how to beat the Green Bay Packers, his reputation will be irrevocably tarnished in Wisconsin. Favre "gave the [Lions'] coaching staff like an hour or a 90-minute dissertation, every single thing that the Green Bay Packers do on offense.'' I know Favre and former Lions GM Matt Millen are close, and Millen is a great admirer of Favre's. There's nothing illegal about this, if it did happen. But it would be seen as an act of betrayal by the Packers and their fans, obviously. Favre texted me before the Jets-Raiders Sunday to call the story "total bs ... not true and pretty ridiculous. I'm telling you it's not true. What the hell is their [Fox's] problem?'' Lions Chief Operating Officer Tom Lewand told me, "Our coaches are perplexed. There was no coaching of our coaching staff [by Favre].'' But there was one semi-damning quote out of the Lions' locker room Sunday. "No comment,'' said head coach Rod Marinelli, when asked about the report.

And LeRoy Butler is saying that this is only the tip of the iceberg.

From everything I've heard, the Favre story is bunk. Favre said it's laughable, didn't happen, has no idea where these reports came from.
For it to happen, he would have had to been traded to the Jets, then fly to Detroit, brief the Lions coaching staff, and fly back to NY.
And brief them with what? They play each other 2 times every year and have done so for eternity. The Packers have been running the same offense (basically) for 20 years...what am I missing here?
Finally, why the Lions of all teams?
I'm not quite getting this story.

Glazer is saying that it was a 60-to-90 minute phone call, and that Favre likes to talk, and that the sources he got the info from don't care either way about what happens.
But Lucha Latte hasn't said the report is bogus - I'd think that if it really wasn't true, King would've said so?

A 60 to 90 minute phone call? Only Favre could generate this much interest.
At first (a couple days ago) they made it sound like he hand delivered his playbook and sat with them in the film room for hours and we're talking about a phone call? If this is any other player, this wouldn't even be a story even if it happened.
Personally, I don't know what Favre could tell them on the phone that they didn't already know. He denied it emphatically, though, so It would be interesting if the "source" would come out and put himself on record.

I don't know how anyone could've inferred that logically - taking time out from helping the Jets (and himself) prepare just to fulfill a lover's spat with the Loins? If Favre had taken time out, someone would've noticed, correct? The NFL isn't that all-encompassing that someone wouldn't have figured out he wasn't in NYC.
Not a big fan of Favre (no surprise) and I know this stuff happens all the time in the NFL. I was just curious about the whole thing. FTR, I think he did tell the Lions (not that it matters, because it's the Loins), but there's just as much emphasis on the team itself to vary its gameplans from week to week to keep teams from jumping on (something we'll only see in the first 15 plays of this offense).

I think those who don't like Favre will accept this at face value and believe an unknown, off-the-record source over Favre's on the record denial. That's not exactly a shock.
I was Favre and I did it, I wouldn't even deny it. The biggest sham in the NFL is teams don't know what other teams are doing...with FA, there are no secreats in the NFL other than the gameplan 3 days before Sunday for that particular opponent.

Why wouldn't a Favre fan believe this as well? You already pointed out there are no more secrets in the NFL, and if a team has to resort to getting advice form a former player, then they're not doing the job they need to do. Even the Lions.
I just find it all interesting.
Besides, it's not as if Favre has an unblemished record, either...

Well, Favre said he didn't do it. I don't have any reason not to believe him and I think it's such a minor infraction (ie: not against the rules in any way and done every week by every team) I don't know why he'd deny it so emphatically.
He could have done it for all I know...I guess when it comes down to it, I don't care either way, though.

Unless you think he retired knowing he wanted to play this year in some kind of evil plan, it's tough to call him a liar about that.
People get really emotional about Favre for some reason.
