Now that's a press conference....
Andy Reid should watch that shit.
Got a few chuckles out of me as well.
Good find Bass. A HR.

More nuttiness from around Dr. Singletary, this time a reporter asks him if he called Bill Walsh after he got the 49ers job:

quote of the year nomination..."number 2, Bill Walsh did not call him, Bill Walsh is dead."
Not sure why I laughed so hard at that one.

It's no wonder no one wants to speak to Culpepper.
First he goes to KC and then leaves, and is now talking to Detroit (though reports are mixed whether or not he's signed). It doesn't need to be this high profile, and if he really were trying hard to get back into the NFL, he wouldn't be doing this song and dance.

Ted Cottrell fired and Ron Rivera promoted to take his place as defensive coordinator for the Chargers.
The most interesting aspect of this story is that Ron Rivera was the INSIDE linebackers coach. Do they have another coach for the OUTSIDE LBs? linc

That's interesting...Maybe in a 3-4 they are coached separately because the positions are so different?
Never thought about it before, but it's interesting.

He was shit-canned from Chicago in a really strange way. I never understood it because I thought he was cut loose after a year in which their defense played great. Maybe it was a personality conflict with Lovie Smith that caused it?
It's also kind of weird for him to have interviewed to be the Chargers' head coach and then wind up coaching their linebackers.

This is too good to pass up (per PFT):
There is plenty of skepticism in league circles regarding the potential effectiveness of 49ers coach Mike Singletary’s decision to use his first postgame press conference to berate unnamed members of his team.
As one league insider observed, “I just don’t think coming out that strong was the right approach. Especially with a team as untalented as the Niners are. The minute he says the wrong thing or does the wrong thing, he’s lost the locker room.”
Based on reports that surfaced recently in Arizona, there’s another “thing” Singletary supposedly did on Sunday that some players might deem to be just plain “wrong.”
Per Dan Bickley of the Arizona Republic and Mike Jurecki of XTRA 910, Singletary’s halftime speech to the team included the fledgling head coach dropping his pants, showing the players his bare ass, and pointing to it, apparently as a visual aid to display Singletary’s belief that the team was getting its ass kicked. (Hey, it beats the hell out of studying film.)
According to the reports, Singletary then addressed the team for three or four minutes with his pants around his ankles.
Frankly, we’re not quite sure what to make of it. The locker room is a universe unto itself. It’s a place where motivation might flow from a tree stump and a sharp ax. Or a dead turkey in a locker. Or a banana in the tailpipe.
Still, if Singetary is doing this kind of stuff during the first game of his career, he’ll soon be pulling a Bob Knight with a fistful of two-ply Charmin. And then it’s only a matter of time before Singletary is crapping in a grocery bag.

hopefully Andy Reid doesn't copy Singletary, imagine Reid dropping his pants, the mushroom cloud alone probably bring the ceiling down.
on a side note...a buddy of mine (skins fan) went to the skins/steelers game on monday night, he estimated 40,000 Steelers fans there. nice home field advantage huh?

I guess with the Raiders realizing they made mistake on Beverley D'Angelo Hall, the Eagles now believe they need to do the opposite and stick with Smith just to prove they were right.
As long as this stubbornness costs them some wins, I'll be happy because I find the predictability of their routine mistakes to be comforting.

I think their stubborness is at play here, but I don't think it's a financial decision or based on their use of the tag.
TE franchise money is dick, so they retained him because he was the best FA TE available and it wasn't expensive...I don't think it was any kind of ringing endorsement of him as a player they'd feel obligated to stand behind.

Not to mention, even though I'll be first in line to criticize A.R. & Co., any comparison between the the two franchises that favors the Raiders borders on the insane.

I'm not applauding the Raiders because trading for and signing Hall to a big deal was a spectacularly stupid move, but at least the Raiders admit their mistakes.
Of course, the Eagles have never ever ever erred.
They are worse than the Bush administration.

Come on now, Talon. Nothing was worse than the Bush administration.
In any event, I agree with you. It's just that I don't want the tools from philly.com trying to misrepresent us as anything other than the knowledgeable, passionate, and loyal fans that we are.
Oh, and BTW, Go Phils.
Jeff Lurie, your team lost my heart when they lost to Kyle Orton.

I really don't understand the "they never admit their mistakes" thing. They used a #1 on Freddie, and he was only ever in the top 2 WR's b/c of injury, then was cut after 3 seasons. Simoneau lost his job then was gone. Howard was benched, then made a DT. When do they stubbornly keep playing a shitbag b/c of not wanting to admit being wrong?

Further, I think the problem is that they don't care about the players at most positions, and will get rid of them in a heartbeat, b/c they think their system is what brings about success, and any ol' player will do
