Is your name a reference to 1960, or are you just Asian?

To answer your question, I think Lito plays in another city.

He wants a new deal and while he was a good returner in college, I've seen no evidence if it at the pro level (other than a pre-season return several years ago).

Narctastic.

Settle down, Bednarik.

I've seen no evidence if it at the pro level (other than a pre-season return several years ago).

Always thought that he had loose hands when it came to returning.

After the rams dupe the eagles into taking a 3rd rounder, Sheppard will be lined up opposite Tye Hill.

May not be a dupe

Where is the Rams 3rd round pick?

Honestly, I think he value in trade (for a number of reasons) tops out at a mid-second rounder unless someone gets desperate or falls in love. Accepting a high third round pick (and maybe a 4th round next year) wouldn't be ridiculous, though I'd rather have the second rounder.

I'm starting to think they won't trade him at all because the league doesn't really seem to value him (and more importantly, his contract demands), so I don't think anyone will meet their asking price.

That said, if they send him to the Rams, the Rams had better be sending Tory Holt in return.

St. Louis's pick is the 2nd of the 3rd round, the 65th pick.

Because of his contract and the wonderful way that the Eagles have gone about this, that's probably a fair price. Low 2nd round or using him to trade up in the first might be a bit of a stretch.

It can't happen because of the contract.

I wouldn't care at all if they wanted to move Sheldon to safety, use him as a nickel, use Lito more on special teams, etc.

Fact is the Samuel signing happened because Lito wants out and the Eagles don't want a distraction. I think the idea was essentially.

If they had any intention of keeping Lito, they never would have spent on Samuel, IMO.

And any team that trades for him would have to re-do his contract, or else he'll be a distraction for them as well. That's easy enough with incentive-laden clauses and such.

But like FD said, getting Samuel is the foot pushing Lito out the door, and everyone knows this, hence his low trade value (combined with asking for a new contract and him being as durable as wet toilet paper).

I think the new contract is the biggest drain on his value to other teams.

When you're taking about a 26 or 17 year old CB who has been to multiple pro bowls and suffered no serious injuries (injuries that will effect his skills in the long term), he's a very, very valuable trade piece. However, if he wants similar money to Samuel (for example), teams will be saying to themselves "We should have just signed Samuel without giving up a pick".

With the added bonus of knowing the Eagles almost have to deal him, it reduces his value even further. That's why it's so critical the Eagles continue to pretend they're happy to play with him this season if they don't get their price. What they need in order to get max value for him is a team that believes Sheppard is "the difference" for them and doesn't mind paying for it (in signing bonus and trade). For the Rams, that could be their hope for a playoff push. For a team like the Falcons, it could be the difference between terrible and competitive. For a team like the Colts (just throwing a random good team out there) they could think Sheppard gives them a shot at winning another championship.

I think it's going to have to be a team who believes Sheppard fills a hole that will allow them to take that big leap forward in order to justify both investments.

I don't see why they can't play both Asante and Lito and have two pro bowl players at cornerback.

I feel that they would only trade him if they got something they valued in return.

If it's just because Lito might be a distraction because of the money, seems like he should be able to get over it and wait his turn.

According to the Stl. Post-Dispatch, the rams remain interested in Sheppard. Whatever Lito is wanting in terms of a new contract might be a sticking point, not to mention the compensation that the eagles want. I keep hearing a 2nd rounder and I can't see the rams giving up the 33rd pick for him, given his recent injury problems. If no one else steps up and gives a 2nd then, perhaps the rams 3rd will be enough.

Talon, I doubt Torry Holt carries much trade value these days. He's got a bad knee that is apparently down to bone-on-bone. He was a regular scratch from Wednesday practices last year, sometimes more. Although he still manages to get by on his route running and veteran savvy, he has virtually no speed, or quickness left. I'm guessing that Randy McMichael takes away a big junk of Holt's receptions this year.

I don't think the Eagles will take less than a second round pick and I think the pick will have to come this year.

Maybe the Eagles could throw a 5th round pick back to the Rams or something, but they have me halfway convinced they won't give Sheppard away for nothing.

Is it just me or could Lito not be traded to the Bungles for Ocho?

I know some of you wouldn't want him and his primadonna'ish attitude....but for fuckssake!

Alternatively, having 3 quality starting CBs is fine by me. A great secondary should improve the play of the front four.

I'm more than fine with having a killer secondary, especially since we know that Lito will be injured and not playing for 1/4 to 1/3 of the year.

I know players and agents never think like this, but providing a miracle occurs and he's healthy, he could be in line for a lot of INTs this year if teams are less likely to throw on Samuel. That could lead to some leverage for a new contract, as well as increasing his trade value.

But then again, I'm from the school of thought that you don't sign a contract unless you intend to honor it, so obviously I know nothing of professional athletics.
