I've never seen such physical dejection after a pick. It was like watching your child open up a gift Christmas morning and it's the sweater from Sears.

Seth's whole day changed after that pick. And Andrew's sleepy mugshot didn't help matters.

when they traded up I thought Williams or maybe even Steven Jackson.

I definitely spent the rest of my day drunkenly bitching about fat andrews.

I seem to remember you charging toward the TV in excitement at that pick. That was the draft when The Talon was live-blogging to the Level from Hooters...

a 2 and 4 this year and a 1st next year for the Bird's first pick this year.

Great, more wasted pick. So much for the fleeting feeling Steve Smith was involved...

I think that's actually a pretty good deal, but at some point you cannot continue to give away your #1 picks and expect to get decent players.

i ( and my football buddy )may be of the few who believe in trading down, and def not trading up.


to me, all picks no matter the round are a crapshoot. rdiddy said saturday that 38% of 1st rounders are busts. just slightly better than 2nd and third rounders, but they cost a lot more.

contrary to popular opinion or anyway it gets spun, trading up is no guarantee of a successful pick. ( mamula, antone davis, doogie ) btw, all 3 were projected as 1st rounders, and to be selected near why the birds chose them...so they were not a reach.

for the buddy fans here, and i know there are many, in 1990, he drafted 3 WR's in the first five rounds i believe. the # 2 pick who was jeff george's go to guy in illinois flopped. the 4th and 5th rounders were much better, with arkansas fred turning into one of the games better receivers in the early and mid 90's. those of you who work in finance know this as leveraging your chances or options.


the eagles drafting record has not been stellar.
why put all the eggs into fewer baskets.

more picks means more chances to score a talented player. many will still be busts, but every team is gonna have those whether you draft 5 guys or 10.

I don't mind trading down and I didn't want them t trade up this year, but the best talent is in the first round. Not even giving the first round a shot for 2 straight years is crazy.

That's my only beef.

with arkansas fred turning into one of the games better receivers in the early and mid 90's.
