Chargers and Patriots really do well, though. Not surprising about the Patriots, though. I think they even have a Guard that never played college football.

Are we talking Eagles or anyone?

Those are a few off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are more.

In terms of players around the league, I'm not sure...it's tough to remember who was undrafted around the entire league (for me).

I forgot about Rod Hood...he might be the best of them all, NC.

In 03, the Chargers scooped Kris Dielman and Antonio Gates from the unwanted list.

Tony Romo was undrafted, as well.

Wes Welker, Patriots (now).

This Bowman thing is crazy. STILL no official word. With all the throw away practice squad guys they bring in, how can it be this complicated. End of 2006 this guy was a first rounder. End of 2007 he was at least in round three. An Injury, little weed and a bad combine and NO TEAM wants him??

BOWMAN ISN’T A BIRD

We’ve been flooded today with e-mails from PFT Planeteers in Philly asking about Internet reports (man, I hate those) that the Eagles have inked Oklahoma State receiver Adarius Bowman.

Per a league source with knowledge of the situation, the Eagles have not signed Bowman. We’re also told that they will not sign him.

Bowman was expected to be a first-day draft pick. An April 14 guilty plea to marijuana possession hurt him, and he ultimately wasn’t drafted.

I've become intrigued to the point of obseesion with this dude.

That's pretty much exactly how I feel. Bowman has reached "Nasti Nate" level hype.

I now want Bowman more than EAG wants the Timberlake.

I think he surpassed Nasti Nate status with all the mystery surrounding his whereabouts/where he will sign/why its taken this long/why so many conflicting reports and subsequent denials...



The truth is out there...

This sheds a little more light on the situation.

I guess he was busted with weed in a dorm at NC and suspended. He failed a drug test later on and was dismissed. He then had 2 pretty good seasons at Ok St. and capped it with yet another pot arrest.

So, basically, teams are looking at him as a 3 time offender who hasn't learned his lesson despite being suspended, despite being kicked out of school, and despite having his future on the line 1 month before he was set to go pro.

The thing I don't get is if he isn't a bad guy (which he isn't, by all accounts...just stupid), what's the harm in a FA deal? If he latches on, you keep him. If not, you dump him.

If he gets busted one more time, he's going to prison so maybe that reality, along with his future on the line, will get him to give up the reefers.

The Eagles announced today that they signed three rookie free agents. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Quarterback Casey Hansen (6-foot-6, 220 pounds) threw for 4,277 yards and 19 touchdowns during his two-year career at Norfolk State, where he led the MEAC in 2006 with 2,166 yards.

He was a second-team All-Foothill Conference performer as a sophomore in 2005 at Chaffey Junior College in Rancho Cucamongo, Calif., after transferring from Colorado State.

Linebacker Gary Butler (6-1, 235 pounds) played at California (Pa.) and registered 69 tackles, 12 sacks, and four forced fumbles in his senior season, earning PSAC West defensive player of the year honors and leading the Vulcans to a 13-1 record.

Linebacker Mark Staffieri (6-3, 232 pounds) recorded 54 tackles and one sack during his senior season at Brigham Young and finished his four-year career with the Cougars with 132 tackles and 2 sacks.

Special teams is finally being taken seriously, not that these signings speak to anything except maybe tryin to find a diamond in the rough or solid ST's contributer, but I think a lot of what they've done in UFA and then post draft FA's is with an eye towards the various ST units.

Hansen is bigger than the DE they drafted. I wonder what kind of motor he has.

ADARIUS BOWMAN GOING TO CANADA

Another day, another talented but troubled wide receiver going to Canada.

Former Oklahoma State wide receiver Adarius Bowman is the latest to head north of the border, having signed a rookie contract with the Canadian Football League’s Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Bowman was once thought of as a potential first-day NFL draft pick, but he went undrafted after he turned in a bad performance at the scouting combine and then was arrested for possession of marijuana a few weeks before the draft.

That was the second marijuana-related incident for Bowman. He transferred to Oklahoma State after North Carolina kicked him off the team following a marijuana possession charge. He was an All-Big 12 player at Oklahoma State and finished fourth in school history with 127 receptions and 2,187 yards.

Canada is becoming a popular place for draft bust wide receivers, although ex-Lion Charles Rogers has apparently decided it’s too crowded for him.
