Anyone watch the Favre giveth and the Favre taketh away last night?
Amazing back door cover followed by the only thing he could have done to ruin it...a pick six.

I have played a gag order on myself from talking about anything Favre related, lest I be labeled a "hater". And let's not even talk about Favre being like a kid down there.
Didn't watch the game, but from reading about it, that offense should take off once everyone gets on the same page. Still think Favre won't last the rest of the season.

Well, here's what happened last night...
The Vikes held the Jets to field goal after field goal while their offense got absolutely nothing going against the Jets D.
Favre suddenly starts playing like superman, making ridiculous throws, avoiding sacks, working the Jets D like a part time job. They literally had no answer for the Vikes offense in the 4th quarter.
He gets them set up perfectly for the win (with the defense helping a lot by holding the Jets, of course) and tosses a pick 6 with less than a minute left.
The spread was 4 points and he closed it twice, only to blow it with the pick 6, which I KNEW was coming.
Far as his health, he might not make it through year...totally agree. He was grabbing his elbow in pain after every throw in the 4th quarter.

Considering that was against one of the best defenses in the league, and Farve was able to get 3 TD drives in the second half without Rice on the field, once Moss, Rice and Harvin are all in sync with AP running the way he did last night, the Vikings will be a scary team. At 1-3 now, and Dallas next week, one of them will end up being 1-4, which is good news for the rest of the NFC, though I'm fully expecting one of them to surge and make the playoffs as a wildcard (or maybe a lower seed division winner).

I'd say the Vikes because I like their defense better, but I'm not confident Favre will make it. On the other hand, the Cowboys have a bad offensive line and that's difficult to overcome.
I totally agree, though. I think those are both good teams that could easily go on a rampage.

Both teams still have games left against their respective division leaders, so turning it around and winning the division isn't out of the question.
But again, if Favre can't make it through the year without getting obliterated, I think you'll see a much better looking Tavaris Jackson.

This is not a basket I want my eggs in if I'm a vikings fan.
BTW, another couple of interesting notes from last night:
- Greg Lewis grabbed a couple passes. He's not in his 8th NFL season on an active roster. Pretty amazing, IMO.
- Favre threw his 500th TD pass last night and crossed the 70K yard passing line. To put that in perspective, Joe Montana (who played 16 years) would have had to play another decade averaging 3,000 yards and 23 TDs per season to hit those numbers.

For all his foibles, Favre is talented. I wonder how long it'd have take Marino to do it.
FD, hurry up and crunch some numbers.

Marino is relatively close. He played 18 seasons and is currently about 9K yards and 82 TDs behind Favre, so he could have realistically hit Favre's numbers with 3 to 4 good seasons.

The one thing I took away from that game was this:
For all the "genius," "innovative," and "aggressive" labels that the national media had thrown upon Reid over the years, someone should actually watch what the Jets are doing. They are living up to those labels, and if Sanchez can develop better accuracy, that team will be scary good. It might even happen this year.
Girth aside, the only way Rex Ryan resembled Reid was when they inexplicably threw two incomplete passes in a row when trying to kill the clock at the end of the game, one of which was snapped too soon with no regard for the playclock, effectively putting Favre in a position to lead a game-winning drive.

Just looking at clock management, I left that game thinking "Maybe most coaches are as bad as Reid". I don't watch a ton of football games from start to finish like I do the Eagles, but Jets offense was very Eagle-like in end of game clock management.

From his PC, Favre looks like a beaten man. Between his schlong shots and his body starting to betray him, you almost have to feel sorry for him.

The Favre hatred continues to be irrational.
Think selfishly - is a Vikings game more interesting to you, the fan and consumer, with Favre at QB or Tavaris? Dude's fun to watch and a hell of a competitor.
The dong shot stuff is such a small deal.. I love these people getting on their high horse about "workplace harassment" or some such nonsense... please.

Redskin, how is he a "fraud"? The guy has set many statistical records. I'm not sure how that makes him a fraud. Nobody is saying he's the best ever. But he hasn't missed a start ever. He's been a fierce competitor. He may not be the best on the field on any given Sunday and has the penchant for inopportune turnovers, but he's also led quite a few 4th quarter comebacks. He almost did against one of the best defenses in the league in one quarter.
I understand that his accompanying media hype has made him the object of scorn, but I'm not sure how that makes him a fraud. I think I'm with olv on the irrationality thing. I don't care for his excuses to avoid training camp. I think this year, he genuinely didn't seem to want it. He clearly looked more like a calculating type. Then again, for all we know, he may genuinely have not known what he was doing. Who knows? Who cares?

I think the trend in "journalism" is to attract more interest in the key barbarian demographic of the 25-40 something males. Ines Sainz, Sturger, and now Miller.
Note how she is the spokeswoman but they link to her "sexy shots" and the series of "sexy" ads to promote the "NFL". Like the NFL needed more promotion. What type of attention do we think she'll get?
PS, if he did send pee-pee shots, he should be disciplined. Workplace harassment has gray lines, but that would be out of line. The thing I don't get is how he got her number. Especially if she clearly scorned any advances. I mean, I can't imagine Favre dropping his pants, taking a low resolution photo of his unit and sending it to her out of the blue saying, "Hey Jenn, me and the unit are down to party......meet me at room 421".
Some form of interaction must have preceded (though not absolving that action) the weenie shots.
