I watch people's work ethic change every day.

But there is always some internal motivator (usually created by an external circumstance) that leads to that leads to that change.

So in this particular argument, everybody's right.

There really aren't SOLELY innate personality characteristics olv. The are shaped by countless factors, genetics is just one of them.

I am amazed, by the way, at the certainty with which you guys dismiss me when you were dead wrong about this guy as recently as a few months ago.

Let me laminate your all-time pass for nailing that 50/50 shot on Vick starting over Klob.

OLV, I don't know what all the PhD nonsense is about. He's making reads he never understood before, he's more accurate than he's ever been before.

I don't know how either of those improve without work. It might be the difference between being a complete fuck-off and putting in a little effort for all I know, but the only other explanation I can think of is he knew what to do before and just didn't do it. Essentially, he knew what his reads were, but refused to look at those receivers. He knew how to throw the ball to a player, bus threw it errantly on purpose.

The notion that a person's work ethic is essentially established by adulthood without capacity for change is crazy.

That happens EVERY day. Just look at the recent story on Dupree on 30/30. He was never really a hard worker which led to him getting kicked out of the league. He put in his time and he improved.

It happened to me and I can say firsthand, you can hone your focus and make improvements.

To speak to FD's point, he might not have suddenly become a workaholic obsessed with details. He might be doing 50% of what he never did before. Consequently, he's improved.

Furthermore, for people who have bad work ethics, one thing that motivates them is that when they see positive results, it motivates them further.

Just watch the show biggest loser. You think those guys had incredible work ethics? Seriously?

Thanks f-d. Hopefully on the back of that pass you'll include a reminder not to voice an unpopular opinion in this forum.

For everyone else (and I do believe every single person here disagrees with my view) - what more can I say? Smell my ass. Happy Thanksgiving.

I'm trying to wrap my head around how rediculous is that the 49'ers still have a decent shot at the division at 3-7.

It's looking like AJ won't be suspended for the fight. Which means he'll play on Thursday.

Eagles are -8. Yeesh.

That line seems too high with the Eagles running out a JV secondary against Schaub.

What's the over/under, 1000?

Supposedly AS will play Thursday.

Turned on WIP last night for a second to see what they were talking about, and Ike Reese said he thought AS missed this game so that he could be ready for Thursday.

Needless to say, the radio went off like 10 seconds later.

Never brought up, partially b/c nothing short of jacking everyone's ratings up to 100 would make the Broncos a better team at this point.

Pretty much a guarantee Josh McDaniels will be toast at the end of the year, IMO. They've been horrible since they started off good last year, the Peyton Hillis trade, Alphonso "I Lost the Turkey Game by Myself By Being The Only Man Alive to Get Burned 4 Times On One Play" Smith, etc....

bass, the owner basically came out saying they don't want to make a coaching change. That's why it really doesn't matter, they suck, the owner isn't changing the coach, so no one gives a crap. If this happened to a NFL powerhouse like the Lions or something then it'd be a big deal but no one gives a rats ass.
