I'll defend Cutler. He talks shit and he seems like an asshole, so I think a lot of people are lining up to take their shots. I just don't see how you can question the guy's heart or injury.
He's missed one game in his entire career and that was due to concussion suffered earlier this year.
Mr. Bear (uRlackurz) didn't question him. His coach didn't question him.
I dunno...kinda seems like a guy who has made a lot of enemies eating shit for getting hurt.

Players know a lot more than we do about this stuff, and how often is it that they go out of their way to slag someone else in public like that?
Jules is right in that this will probably define his career. It's the NFC title game, the Bears could have run more on the Pack if Martz wasn't so in love with himself, and most QBs would do just about anything to even be in his position.
It's hard to look at him as elite b/c you have guys like Philip Rivers who played the AFC title game on a torn ACL. I'll figure that a lot of people have a personal axe to grind with him, but it just didn't look good. It doesn't say much, though, when you can say with a straight face that your emergency QB gives you the best chance to win the NFC title game.

If he gets in that situation again, you don't think there will be some sort of snickering going around about him staying with it?
Personally, I'm not questioning whether or not he's tough. It just looks bad.

Then a lot of players have a lot of crow to eat.
Already feels like a lot of this is personal (MJD calling out someone about quitting when there was talk about him taking off during the last 2 weeks of the season), but it goes against the perception of what these guys do.
Still, have never seen it like this.

alright, so that's my point. guys who weren't there are calling him out and we don't even know the severity of the injury. Like f-d said, it's out of character

I get your point, but if anyone knows stuff like this, it's players.
I've just never seen a player willingly take himself out of a championship game (and I'll admit it's fostered sometimes by the media overinflating things, like Willis Reed)

the players don't know what the injury is. nobody knows right now, so these guys watching from 2000 miles away know as much as we do. that's what i'm saying

When you tear an ACL, you can still walk in many circumstances. Remember Barnett lining up for the next play when he tore his?

Couple things about the Jets-Steelers game:
- I don't know how there wasn't a flag on back-to-back plays against the Steelers. First the Harrison late hit on Sanchez when he was sliding, then the helmet-to-helmet him from Farrior. Both of those should've resulted in PF penalties, but neither was called.
- The Jets lost that game when they didn't run it at the goal line on 2nd and 3rd down.

Shonn Greene is a better short yardage runner than LT at this stage of his career. Everyone but the Jets coaches could see that yesterday.
Brian Shottenheimer seems like an awful OC. His playcalling on the last two drives were approaching Eagles-in-the-Super Bowl levels of clock management.

I would like to see the stats on penalties called on home vs. away teams in the NFL. The last three weeks watching the fouls called on the Jets and what was/was not called on their opponents was truly eye-opening. And no, I do not believe in conspiracy theories or that the NFL "wants" the Colts/Patriots/Steelers to win.

Not really. If there is, that would be weird.
he took one of the most unholy beating I've ever seen a QB take against the Giants earlier this year and didn't leave until his head no longer functioned. I don't know why he'd be looking for an out in that game.

Darnell Dockett missed a game this year with a stinger and he was one of the guys giving Cutler a lot of grief. He said the injury was "serious as hell" and if he played that week it could "cost him his career".
7 days later he played and didn't miss another game the rest of the year.
I didn't hear anyone call Dockett out for that (rightfully). I guess if you were prone to that sort of thing, you might question a career threatening injury only keeping a guy out for 1 week in the midst of a 7 game losing streak and wonder if he maybe just didn't feel like playing a nothing game against a nothing opponent a little banged up.

So does that undefine his career or will the tear need to be severe enough to require surgery in order to undefine it?

There's also a report out that said he had tears in his eyes when he found out other players were ripping on him.
Yeah, THAT helps.

The answer was just "no".
Anyone looking to get their shot on Cutler in will view everything that's happened over the past 24 hours through that lens.
