This has been a great weekend for NFL football.

- Favre's comeback (a very nice pass, btw).
- Cincy dominating the 2nd half, ending Big Ben's Ohio streak.
- Seneca Wallace almost pulling out a last second win.
- Detroit winning and being gracious with the fans.
- Jax winning amid controversy.
- Rex Ryan going 3-0, Tennessee going 0-3.
- SF is for real, despite giving the game away.

Just great viewing all around, I'd wager.

Man, TO is a powder keg. Kudos for not throwing his QB and OC under the bus (and the media was major league baiting him), but you know he wants to. This is word for word from his PC after their loss to the Saints:

Q: What did you think of the offense overall?
Terrell Owens: “Didn’t execute.”
Q: Why do you think the offense didn’t execute?
T.O.: “We lost the game, what do you think?”
Q: On the deep ball at the tunnel end did you pull up on that?
T.O.: “No.”
Q: Trent couldn’t get the ball downfield and it seemed like everything was short and check downs.
T.O.: “I was just going with the plays that were called.”
Q: Was it something their defense was doing out there?
T.O.: “What do you think?”
Q: You tell me, you’re out there
T.O.: “I’m just going with the plays that are called.”
Q: Your frustration level right now?
T.O.: “I’m good. Just got to get ready for next week.”
Q: Do you feel you and Lee (Evans) are being wasted in this offense?
T.O.: “We’re just going with the plays that are called.”
Q: You could say ‘no’ right there.
T.O.: “I’m just going with the plays that are called.”
Q: Do you like the plays that are called?
T.O.: “Whether I like them or don’t, I’m just going with the plays that are called.”
Q: How about the decisions that are made after the plays are called? The quarterback’s decisions after the play is called?
T.O.: “You’d have to ask him.”
Q: I’m asking what you think.
T.O.: “I don’t want to answer that because whatever I say you guys are turn it into however you want to say it.”
Q: We’ll print whatever you say word for word.
T.O.: “I just answered you sir.”
Q: Any thoughts on the end of your catch streak (185 straight games)?
T.O.: “It’s over.”
Q: Did it have any meaning to you at all?
T.O.: “We didn’t win the game.”
Q: Do you feel bad for the defense?
T.O.: “We’ve just got to regroup and get ready for next week.”

EGADS.

Yeah, but what's he gonna do with that line of questioning? The Buffalo media must be wetting themselves with glee to actually have a recognizable, quotable figure in town after all these years (no, Dominik Hasek doesn't count.)

Rodney Harrison was an ass last night for calling him a clown after that press conference. Dungy was no better, saying, "You don't like to see your receiver giving those types of answers."

Tony, what type of answers do you want him to give?

If the guy were being honest, he'd say that Buffalo is a poorly coached team without a clue on offense, and Trent Edwards is afraid to thrown downfield.

I'm no fan of T.O., but I can't blame him in the slightest for giving those answers when he's obviously being baited.

I think what you'd hope for from your player (in this case T.O.) is to lie.

If they ask him if he believe he and Lee Evans are being wasted in this offense, his coach and teamates are probably hoping he says "Not at all. It's a new offense for all of us with a lot of moving parts so it will take time for all of us to get o the same page".

I mean, is it REALLY that hard to lie/give a generic answer?

With T.O., it apparently is. However, I don't feel bad for the Bills since it's been well established at this point that T.O. will always go that route and you accept that part of him when you sign him.

Awesome post Bass- That is so effing funny, and totally on point. I think those answers were perfect, given the situation. If nothing else T.O. has finally learned to keep his mouth shut to the media, if not at on Twitter

Why should he lie, though? Yes, to protect his teammates, but when your nickname is 'Trentative' or 'Check Down Edwards', you're not going to get a lot of passes thrown your way.

And you know that the media would not accept that answer from him. They KNOW TO's pissed and are waiting for the spark to blow the munitions dump. They KNOW the team sucks and the coaching staff is in dire need of an enema. And they'll keep needling him because they don't know how to take a story without getting an on-the-record quote from someone.

And on top of that, any answer he gives that isn't basic is going to be torn about 8 ways from Sunday. he's almost forced to keep it basic, because everyone wants to point the finger at TO for blowing up another team, though really, this team was blown up before he got there.

Ha...seems like we can't agree on much today.

Count me among those in the school of thought that honesty is horribly, horribly overrated.

Most people would never tell their wife that her ass is getting fat or tell their boss that he breath smells like dick, but they act like T.O. has no choice but to "be honest" when asked a question from the media.

People who say "I'm just being honest" typically have the social and interpersonal skills of a serial killer.

And you know that the media would not accept that answer from him. They KNOW TO's pissed and are waiting for the spark to blow the munitions dump. That's a fair point. Short of spinning a yarn, he's not going to get out of it.

That's where you have to make your decision as T.O. Do you want to be the center of yet another media storm for your team and be baited for the rest of the season, or do you want to tell a 6 word lie?

If it's any other guy, yeah, I agree with you - deflect the question, keep positive, move forward and focus talk on next week''s opponent (maybe if it's the bye, Edwards will complete a pass above 15 yards).

But TO's in a bad spot because:
- His history precedes him
- The media knows he's not happy not getting one pass against a team that has no defense
- The media knows the offense sucks, both from seeing it and talking to players afterwards
- TO wears his emotions on his sleeve.

He did the right thing in his responses, but it's only a matter of time. Problem is, the media up there isn't adept to handling high-profile personalities, and that makes things worse when TO's resistance runs out. Even the coach can't handle him, and that's mostly because he's a nimrod.

On a side note, Rodney Harrison SLAGGED TO on Sunday night, and here's how TO responded, via Twitter:

# Since I kno the media reads my tweets, will sum1 ask rodney how long the cycles take b4 I feel results of the steroids whn he sends em? Lol!about 3 hours ago from MogoTXT

# My bad Rodney! I hv been corrected by ur supporters, u used HGH nt steroids! So, every1 go ahead & use HGH!! Geez, I guess tht makes it ...17 minutes ago from MogoTXT

The rub here is that he wasn't honest in his answers. I mean, look at this:

Q: Your frustration level right now?
T.O.: “I’m good. Just got to get ready for next week.”

Either he's found a new level of self-control, or he's flat-out lying.

If he had been honest about being incredibly frustrated, this story would have been enormous. I think he's learned to not be honest when answering these types of questions, and this was his attempt at avoiding controversy, which he really can't do because everyone is gonna jump on everything he says unless they win.

Rather than being honest, he was trying to avoid giving answers:

Q: Do you like the plays that are called?
T.O.: “Whether I like them or don’t, I’m just going with the plays that are called.”

It's the same thing McNabb and Reid do all the time, but they're a lot better at it. If Buffalo wants him to give different answers, they had better get a P.R. guy in there to coach him because right now, he can't win...literally and figuratively.

Hats off to T.O. for those Tweets.

Harrison is an embarrassment to the NFL. If he didn't play for the Patriots, he'd be viewed by the networks as the filthy, dirty cheater that he is.

Right...he took the right road in some of the questions, but he did the non-answer answer on a whole bunch, too.

I don't give a shit what T.O. does or doesn't do. Not my problem and plays on a non-factor team as far as the Eagles are concerned. However, he's either too dumb to stay out of these situations or likes them because everyone else in the league seems to be able to avoid them.

To paraphrase from earlier in his career, T.O. has about 6.5 million reasons not to be overly vocal in Buffalo. I really believe that's the only thing that keeps him playing football at this point. It's pretty clear to me the guy could care less if he ever wins a ring (he signed in BUFFALO, for crissakes) and almost all the important receiving records are completely out of reach thanks to Jerry Rice.

It really is amazing that they'll let a guy like Harrison take a TV job and criticize anyone given his history as both a dirty player and banned substance use.

He speaks in coherent sentences, which puts him 2 legs about Emmitt Smith. It'll come down on him, though.

Have to wonder what Dungy thinks of him.

I'm just surprised at the balls.

If you're going to call people out for tarnishing the game or being bad for the league, don't be one of the guys who got caught.

It would be like Sammy Sosa working for ESPN and calling JC Romero to the carpet for banned substance use.

Considering the rampant amount of drug abuse and how the NFL/media likes to ignore that it doesn't happen, I had completely forgot he was banned for stuff until TO reminded us.

Guess that goes to show how well the media covers the NFL's tracks.

I think they lineup the star players from each team to speak to the media every week, as well as the top performers. If one of these guys were to avoid the media, they'd surely call him out on it, even though in this case, he'd just be doing it to avoid creating a disruptive controversy.

Have to wonder what Dungy thinks of him.

I didn't even think about that. They really could be a fascinating pair, like Jesus and Herod.

That said, listening to Dungy speak is slightly more exciting than watching milk curdle...On second thought, I'm giving the edge to the milk because every once in a while you see a ripple, which proves the bacteria is alive.

On Monday, Owens told the "Two Live Stews" that he had been staying away from postgame media interviews -- he declined to speak after the Bills' first two games -- because he felt his answers were being misconstrued or taken out of context.

"So I was trying to take myself out of the situation and not do interviews at all until I had a talk with [NFL senior vice president of public relations] Greg Aiello and kind of got into a heated discussion with him as far as my stance on not doing postgame interviews because I'm not trying to go down the same road that I've been down before," Owens said during the interview.

"So I took the initiative and they told me I had to talk in the postgame. I just went in there and did the best job that I can do without creating any media headlines. Obviously, what I did [Sunday] created headlines.

Couple of notes, per PFT:

Felix Jones is out 1-2 weeks.

Delhomme is still the QB in Carolina. Even though for the past few games, he's average one INT per 10 completions. That's just insane.
