BTW, one of my favorite crazy streaks is still in play this year. The Falcons have never had back to back winning seasons in 43 years of existance. It's remarkable, really.
They are currently 6-6 with the Saints, Jets, Bills, and Bucs left on the schedule. The Saints look like a loss, obviously, but the remaining 3 games are all winnable.

You don't go to the playoffs if you hold your rival QB to 6 completed passes and lose.

The radio guys were making excuses for Pit yesterday but seriously Cleveland had the same conditions and had way more on and off the field distractions.
While Mangidiot will still lose his job, the players on that team know that if they don't step up they will likely be out of football next year. Anderson was an example of holding onto a QB too long instead of selling high. With Lewis done, there's really no one of note on the offense. The defense played well though and could end up being the side of the ball with the least turnover for next season.
It kinda reminds me of '98 in Philly.

I don't know if Mangini will get fired. I don't know how much money he got, but he's in teh first year of a 4 year deal. There aren't many teams that will eat 3 years and probably around $10 million in salary.
On top of that, there could be a lockout next year, which would mean the Browns woudl be payign two head coaches and making $0 in revenue.
I think they'll keep him through at least 2010 unless they get a GM in there who despises him.

Well, rumors are high that the Browns are going to bring in Holmgren, and I doubt he gives Mangini much leverage if he's brought in to GM.
I understand what you're saying, but Mangini has become like that girl you brought home when you were wearing beer goggles, and you want to cut ties even if you gave her a ring or something like that.

That Holmgren situation is so weird. It definitely sounds like he's going back.

Lovie Smith makes me appreciate Reid, although they both are fond of the one play that consistently puts me on the verge of having a coronary:
Calling a timeout to decide whether or not to challenge...which you will inevitable do and lose and then lose a second timeout.
SKIP THE TIMEOUT AND JUST THROW THE FUCKING CHALLENGE FLAG ASSHOLE!
Doing this in the 4th quarter, as Lovie Dovie did today with 4:57 left, was absolutely inexcusable. If Chicago brings him back, they are insane.
