Playmakers is less than 10 blocks from my house. Strangely enough, I've never been there.
Great article, especially the part about him sitting on a beach chair next to cardboard cutout of himself.

Very interesting to compare the GQ profile with this one by Sally Jenkins in the Wsh Post in 2006.
The articles aren't really incompatible at all from a factual perspective - it's just that the authors reach two completely opposite conclusions on the type of guy Harrison really is. click here

The Saints have signed Deuce McCallister.
I didn't even realize he wasn't playing with anyone this year.

Don't know if this was discussed, but Akers made 1st team All-Pro this year.
Very nice comeback, proving all the doubters (including me) wrong.
Now Dino can frame this.

Akers really has bounced back. I still don't feel completely confident in him, but it's just lingering feelings from a few seasons back at this point. I'm pretty shocked at how he's turned things around.

It's been removed, but apparently this was added to Kaeding's wiki page before the game was even over yesterday:
After the Charger's January 17th, 2010 post season loss to the Jets, Kaeding attempted suicide in the locker room by hanging, but missed trying to kick the chair from under himself

Did anyone see Rex Ryan's press conference after the game?
According to my sales manager at work, someone asked Rex how he felt about Vincent Jackson kicking his challenge flag back at him after his catch in the 4th quarter. Ryan allegedly responded, "I thought it was great, it was the only kick [the Chargers] made all day."
I saw part of the postgame on SNY, but missed this part--I can't believe that quote isn't getting major press if it's true. If he said that, I hope the Jets sign him to a lifetime extension today.

Speaking objectively, the Jets play an "un-sexy", non-visually appealing brand of throwback football.
Speaking as a native of NY and Jets fan, as well as a current Philly-area resident who's seen the flip side of the coin-- this Jets team is incredibly entertaining. Sure, I wish they'd let Sanchez take a few more shots with Braylon/Cotchery sometimes, but trust me, no one's complaining. Given the contrast of the two teams I follow closest (Jets/Eagles), I vastly prefer the one that has the fundamentals down pat, and worries about the aesthetics later.

I like watching a team of guys in green who can tackle and run the football.
I haven't seen anything like this in about 14 years.

Love Rex's comment. ENY, I actually enjoyed watching that defense. Fundamentally sound, does gamble a little but still they don't miss tackles. Loved the play by Leonard to drop Sproles on a screen. He was bearing down on Rivers, pulled up as soon as he saw the tackle pull from one side to the other and the RB was behind him in the flat and dropped Sproles (maybe LT) for a 4 yard loss. Even Lito Shepherd is solid. They have smallish CB's but don't let anyone off the line clean.

If the Jets win the SB, they could be the only other WC that won a SB without a home playoff game. NY fans would be incredibly insufferable then. No offense, ENY.

No offense taken, Bass.
It seems that the comment in question "only kick they made all day" was made by some reporter or someone on-site or in a studio during, or immediately following Ryan's PC--but not by Rex himself. Funny either way, but about 5x better if Rex himself had said the words.
