Man...those backs die overnight.
I know all the reasons why RB's have such a short shelf life, but LT was essentially finished last year and Brees (drafted the same year as LT in the second round by the Chargers) is smack in the middle of his prime.

In other news, T.O. and McNabb have patched things up as Owens starts his 4th "I'm a changed man" tour in 5 years and begs for a contracts from someone.

Finally, for the trifecta, Antrel Rolle may be cut by the Cards.
He was a Pro Bowler this year and has really come into his own after moving to FS. The cdards have a number of big money FA's to sign or franchise and Rolle is due to make over $8 million this year (including a $4 million roster bonus) because of escalators he hit in his contract.
If he hits the open market, he'll make a ton of cash. He'd also potentially be a fantastic fit for the Eagles.
$8.2 million is a huge number for a safety, but the thing that makes it even tougher to stomach for the Cards is Adrian Wilson (the strong safey) makes something like $7 million per year. So, in essence, they'd be paying over $15 million this year for their safeties and their defense will still stink.
Yo, click it

What does it mean to be cut these days?
It's really become more of a economic thing, rather than "the guy can't cut it anymore".
Is the stigma still the same?

No, teams are more willing now to give a guy a look, at least in camp. Yeah, it's economics (especially if the guy doesn't restructure), but it's also youth (which is partially driven by economics).
It probably won't be as prevalent to the richer teams during this year, but someone remind me - are the CBA rules for the final 8 for this year just for guys who are lost to FA, or do they include cuts?

I bet LT ends up on the Patriots. Seems like a player BB would want and could make good use of.

T.O. is coming to grips with the fact that his playing days are all but over. He won't get on the field as a starting 1, but what he could do for a team with undersized WRs is provide them with a sizeable target in the red zone.

It'd be funny if TO were signed and McNabb traded the next day.
Well, maybe not, but still.

Funnier if he signed with Minnesota and Favre announced his retirement the next day.

It depends why you're cut. In LT's case, they don't think he can play anymore. In T.O.'s case, he's not worth the headaches for what he can give you on the field. In Anterl Rolle's case (if he's cut) it will be because they gave him a bad contract, can't afford it given their situation, and he won't agree to a new deal with them.

I can see a team like NYG taking a flier on TO. They need a vet WR to compliment what they have, though I'm not sure if he could be the best teacher for the young kids. Other teams could look at him the same way.
Rice played for years after he wasn't near as good as he once was, and TO will probably bounce from team to team for a few years making a couple more million to stay in the press before he gets his own TV show. Still love to see him and Ochocinco play together.

I can't see Coughlin coaching T.O.
But T.O. on Cincinnati's roster would be something worth watching.

I can't even envision where T.O. will end up. The Buffalo landing spot was so out of left field that I think any team is potentially on the table including the Raiders and every other crap franchise.

I think the rule is you get 1 sexual assault on the house for each Championship, so he's going to have to lay low for a while after this.

The Jets sent safety Kerry Rhodes to the Cardinals for a fourth-round pick in this year’s draft and a seventh-rounder in 2011.
The Philadelphia Eagles are still sitting on their gold-plated hands. link

Antonio Cromartie:
"I have seven kids that live in five different states. I made some wrong decisions in my first two years in the league. Now I have to take on the responsibility of being a father to my kids. I can separate my personal life and off-the-field issues from football ... The mothers [and I] try to work out a schedule where I can see my kids. I talk to them on IChat and Skype. We try to find different ways for me to be in their lives, no matter how it is.''

How old are these kids that are on Skype? I mean, the dude is 25, he was drafted less than 4 years ago. Kids must be smart ones.

Man...funny stuff:
With seven children by six different women in five states and at least five paternity suits in the past two years, new Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie needs cash.
The Jets have stepped up, giving Cromartie $500,000 in up-front money (in the form of a bonus) on the final year of a contract that'll pay him $1.7 million in 2010, according to the NFL Network.
During a conference call with beat reporters on Friday, Cromartie spoke of how he had to clear up his paternity issues before he can report to the start of the offseason program on March 22. He has a court date in California later this month.

Rams sign DT Fred Robbins, so unless they are done with Carriker, it looks like they are in position to go with a QB with the first pick. This becomes significant because it's unlikely that St. Louis would make a move like that if they were going to go for one of the top two players in the draft at #1. Unless they are willing to move that pick for some other talent they are likely going to go with Bradford at #1, removing St. Louis for consideration for McNabb.
I know that's a ton of speculation but I'm starting to get the feeling that no matter what waves are made, Donavin will be an Eagle starting the season.
