Lyte, there is a conduct policy. This isn't about innocence or the burden of its proof. You expect people to comport themselves in a special way and its part of their contract.
I'm not sure what Tiger's infidelity has to do with this. Tiger's depravity doesn't violate a non-existent conduct policy.

Compared to what? Ben didn't fail 3 drug tests. If he did, sure suspend him. Otherwise you're dealing with apples and oranges, unless they're going to put in the rules a person could be suspended for being accused of crimes.
The NFL has access to more info than we and the media do. The fact that a lawyer came out and said this isn't his first hit and the next one will probably send his butt to jail is important.
Even beyond that, like Doc said, the NFL has a conduct policy in place that's different from the letter of the law. His conduct is unbecoming of someone in the NFL's public eye (important point).
And yes, it's apples and oranges, b/c the NFL has a separate drug policy.

My point is I thought we lived in a country where a person was innocent until proven guilty, not innocent until accused.
we do. that's a legal issue. has nothing to do with disciplining someone under contract for detrimental conduct. that's why sponsors drop athletes without having to wait for a conviction. not sure why this is hard to understand.

If fucking a drunk girl a violation of that policy, though?
I mean, they can do whatever they want and given this is his second (at least) alleged incident, you could argue that fucking a girl ina bar (period) after the first issue is conduct detrimental.
Still, what's the point of being a professional athlete if you can't fuck college girls in strange places?

Late, missed a day. Sry.
B7 wasn't "cleared", there was insufficient evidence to prosecute him. I'm sure reports of the girl's ER exam has been posted here somewhere. I've read it.
Something less that pleasant transpired resulted in genital bruising, a superficial scrape or abrasion & bleeding.
Not Guilty is not the same as Innocent and more than 2 incidents = a pattern
If I'm repeating what someone else has already posted, s'il vous plaƮt m'excuser.

And it's a definite pattern, even if it's alleged.
It had to be something serious b/c most of these cases happen in the NFL all the time and no one bats an eye.

How does one get an underage girl drunk at an over 21 bar? He wasn't getting her drunk...the bar got her drunk.
When LCB raids a bar, they don't start fining the guys who were trying to get laid through the purchase of Tequila shots for furnishing alcohol to minors.

Legalities aren't the argument here. The NFL's conduct policy is.

sure is. something along the lines of "corrupting a minor". obviously, it's illegal to buy beer for teenagers outside the beverage distributors.

Totally different scenario, though. Is it illegal for a guy to buy a girl a shot at an over 21 bar or does he have to verify her age personally before buying that shot?

I totally understand, but if what he did (getting a girl drunk at a bar) isn't illegal, we can move on to part #2 (conduct).
Are we going to suspend every NFL player who bought a girl shots at a bar now?

FD you're focusing too much on the legal point. The DA already said there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute.
The NFL, OTOH, could find Ben's actions reprehensible and damaging to the league's image. That's the whole point of the conduct policy - to keep incidents like Pacman Jones from been public knowledge.

we're talking about the totality of circumstances here. his judgement the whole night was unacceptable and this isn't the first time he's displayed it.
