Interesting thought, ENY.
Me thinks they treat it like a day night doubleheader

Don't the Championship games happen on back to back days (one on Saturday and one on Sunday)?

Giants Stadium is a logistical nightmare to get in and out of, park, etc. as is. Now you're doubling the number of people there, not to mntion all the media considerations, etc.? I see no way they can do both games on one day.
I bet they feel stupid for tearing down Shea Stadium now!

You'd think I would know the schedule for the Gold Standard Bowl 4 years in a row.

Alexander gets cut by the Redskins.
Was there a more non-productive move not involving the Eagles? On the bright side, they didn't give up a 4th for him.

Shawn Andrews comes back to the Birds.
Anyone else think he's coming back next year? I don't share f-d's enthusiasm that this guy's coming back. They are in some serious trouble if he doesn't.

Bass, I think part of it is contingent upon whether or not Runyan returns. Doesn't his contract expire after this year?

The National Football League has announced that six players have been suspended for violation of the policy regarding anabolic steroids and related substances.
Saints running back Deuce McAllister, Saints defensive end Charles Grant, Saints defensive end Will Smith, Vikings defensive tackle Kevin Williams, Vikings defensive tackle Pat Williams, and Texans long snapper Bryan Pittman have been suspended.
Sucks for the Vikings - they're missing their entire interior line. This also just about ends the Saints' chances of getting into the playoffs (not that their shot was that great to begin with).

BTW IHSY - Runyan and William Thomas are both FAs at the end of the year, and Runyan hasn't committed to coming back just yet.

what seems unbelievable is that 4 teams are realistic for the 2 wild cards spots, falcons, cowboys, panthers and bucs. one will win the nfc south. 2 will get in. i read that it is possible that the team that doesnt make it could be 12-4, almost certainly 11-5.
in years gone by, 12-4 or 11-5 would get you a bye, and make even top seed. this yr, one team with such a record will watch on tv
amazing

If the team that doesn't make it is 11-5, the Eagles have no shot.

god i got no life, i actually researched this
a 12-4 team not making the playoffs is alive.
if tampa beats carolina this week, panthers have 4 losses. then win out. 12-4
tampa then loses to atlanta next week. then wins out 12-4
dallas and atlanta win out...neither play each other or the other 2 teams again. both 12-4
i am not going to try and figure out who gets left out, too many variables.
likely....no.
but a 12-4 not making it is possible

If all the South teams finish 12-4 (and Dallas does as well), based on your scenario, here's what would happen:
The Falcons would win the division (and the #2 seed) because their div. record would be better than Carolina or Tampa.
Tampa would get the #5 seed because they have a better conference record than Dallas or Carolina.
From there, it gets hazy. Dallas would have a better div. record, but their conf. records would be the same at 4 losses. The only similar opponents they've had are Tampa and the Giants, and Dallas would be 2-1, while Carolina would be 1-2. Under that logic, Dallas gets #6 and Carolina, at 12-4, is OUT. And THAT would be a crazy scenario.
Don't think that happens, though - Carolina knows any realistic shot at the division comes down on Monday Night, and since it's in their backyard with revenge on the side, I think they win handily.
Not sure if that's how it works, but it would be maddening if it did.

just imagione though, if the team you rooted for went 12-4 and missed the playoffs. even 11-5 and missing seems pretty crappy, and 11-5 in some yrs gets you the bye.

Not going to happen. Dallas may very well lose out, but neither Dallas nor the Skins will finish better than 10-6. I think the 3 NFC South teams get in.
