I figured he would have had a few public run-ins with the law or something.

Not much to talk about, and it may just be a non-issue when all's said and done, but it looks like Bradshaw is getting the 1st team snaps for the Giants along with (if not more than) Brandon Jacobs. In fact, they're trying to figure out what the heck happened to him last year.

I'm trying to find out as well - he went from being a problem for the Eagles to being something of a non-factor. Was he hurt last year and told no one? Did he get Shaun Alexander-itis?

Looks like Haynesworth finally passed the test. I'm wondering if this whole thing was him just Farveing through camp.

not from what i've read, which is that you don't fuck with shanahan as AH did this offseason. word is that this "test" was specifically designed by shanahan so that haynesworth would not be able to pass the first half dozen times pretty much no matter what kind of shape he was in.

it's actually a really simple test that people can pass easily. Golic was getting the same times he was

i've read a few articles that contradict that. here's one opinion:

"Shanahan says Haynesworth must complete two shuttle runs in 70 and 73 seconds to prove he's in "football shape." Nonsense. The bursts of effort required of a defensive linemen last seven or eight seconds, not 70, and Haynesworth looks as fit as he ever has in his career, trim and muscled. This isn't really a fitness test. It's a loyalty oath. It's Shanahan's way of testing Haynesworth's unqualified commitment."

i guess i'd see the other side if everyone else in camp had to take the test.

shanahan also "hinted" that hayneworth may have been able to practice at some point even if he had not passed the test.

another article that conjectures this test was always about punishing AH.

I mean, Golic did it, plus Lyte put the averages on here for positions and 70 is the norm for a defensive lineman

plus he passed it the very first time he tried, but then went AWOL in the bathroom instead of coming back for part two.

then he just started skipping doing it b/c of a knee problem that they couldn't find a problem with, then miraculously completes the test after not doing any kind of cardio for about week

i'm not disputing it wasn't Shanahan sending a message, but it wasn't this test that he made impossible to pass.

Agreeing with KB, this was clearly a test that a normal DT in average shape in the NFL should be able to complete. My gut tells me that he ended up pulling a McNabb after the first run and then faked a knee injury in order not to run it. Eventually he realized games are starting next weekend and he has to pass the test in order to get on the field, so he shows up and runs the drill.

The report is sexier if it's Shanny being a jackass rather than Haynesworth being out of shape, lazy or Farveing it. That's why you'll read more reports from people bashing the coach who required Haynesworth meet standards that were expected from him missing all of the required minicamps.

you may be right. one more article, by ross tucker, which quotes lots of former players across the league as saying this type of test is tough, but not impossible (you probably got the golic statement from a similar source). interesting, it quotes an nfl exec as saying they made this test impossible for him to pass right away, but maybe they were doing him a favor by trying to get his teammates back on his side by knocking him down a peg.

i find it very difficult to believe golic, 15 years out of football and now a fat talking head, passed the same test that NFL players are required to pass. not calling you a liar, but that just seems odd.

I haven't heard many complaints about that turf. The garbage the Eagles have and claim they love looks like a painted sandbox buy the end of September and I remember some discussion on whether the Eagles should dump it for FieldTurf (public discussion...not discussion from the Eagles).

Yeah, I guess one guy gets hurt on turf and everyone brings up horror stories. After all the shit the Eagles got over the Vet and the turf there, there is some satisfaction in hearing that the Giants' new stadium's turf is causing injuries before the first live game there.
