Oh, let this one be true. Just for the comedy.

BURRESS SHOOTS HIMSELF IN THE LEG, ACCIDENTALLY
Posted by Mike Florio on November 29, 2008, 11:05 a.m.
Multiple sources tell us that Giants receiver Plaxico Burress has shot himself in the leg.
Apparently, Burress was carrying a loaded gun. And the gun went off.
The incident happened on Friday night/Saturday morning. His condition currently isn’t known.
Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com also is reporting this one, and he’ll soon have a story up with additional details.
Though at this point the player’s health and well being is the primary concern, what the hell was he doing with a loaded gun?
It also remains to be seen whether he faces charges for carrying the loaded gun, and whether he ultimately encounters scrutiny from the league for violating the Personal Conduct Policy.
UPDATE: Glazer reports that Burress spent the night in the hospital, and that his injuries are not life threatening. Per Glazer, the team is still gathering information regarding the incident.

"Statistics show that you are more likely to be shot if you have a gun in the house. And the person who gets shot is more likely to be the homeowner than the intruder."

Statistics show that dumb ass NFL players who don't know how to properly handle weapons end up on the Cowboys.

The AP is now reporting that Burress shot himself at a nightclub.
How funny would that be?
You know he was in there, throwing his weight around, acting like a bigshot and talking loud, when -POP!
I'll bet plenty of people were laughing out loud

I know I guy who did, in fact, literally shoot himself in the foot.
He was/is the older brother of two high school friends who lived around the corner. As I understand it, a pistol tucked in his waistband inadvertantly fired, striking him in the right foot. At least that was the explanation always given for this slight limp.

Since were on the topic of non-fatal accidental self inflicted gun wounds - a touch morbid, kinda like comparing old battle scars or something - but never-the-less, I've got one. On Halloween Day a couple of years ago, my brother, who had accompanied a friend to the Dr's office, decided to clean his pistol to pass the time while waiting for her in the car. For some reason, he decided to load the gun.
Meanwhile, the chick's dog, which was also in the car, momentarily distracted him. Talk about short term memory issues...he'd forgotten that he had placed the bullet in the gun and -- you guessed it--shot himself in the leg. Had to be life-flighted to Erie. Shattered his femur. And fortunately, lived to tell about it and is none worse for the wear today. He'd been around guns his whole life and possessed numerous weapons. Still, it happens.

"Statistics show that you are more likely to be shot if you have a gun in the house. And the person who gets shot is more likely to be the homeowner than the intruder."
I' like to see the documentation (from a NON-BIASED source) to support this.
On the eve of PA's white tail deer season (1 million people with rifles heading into the woods) it seems a good time to state the obvious - Treat ANY and EVERY gun as if it was loaded, even if you are positive it is not - cause it's often the "empty" gun that does the killing. Seriously, I don't mean to be dramatic, but the timeliness of this thread could actually save a life.

Let us all thank Tom Heckert for firing Marc Ross, enabling him to go to the Giants to build a dynasty as Head of College Scouting.

Well, he is a Jets fan.
But the notion that anyone would believe this tool was shot at an Applebees is hilarious.
It's only trumped by the inconceivable notion that IN A CITY WITH THOUSANDS OF RESTAURANTS, FEATURING ALL SORTS OF CUISINE, SOMEONE ACTUALLY CHOOSES TO EAT AT MOTHERFUCKING APPLEBEES!

Half-price appetizers, Talon. Since he lost one whole check getting suspended, he's had to cut back on expenses.

Half-price dogshit still tastes like dogshit.
Besides, the special "deals" that chain restaurants feature typically do not apply in NYC.
I really do think Applebees is the lowest of the non-fast food chains.

Meh, Friday's makes me want to swallow a Brillo pad.
Applebee's is pretty bad, don't argue that.
Used to think Bennigans wasn't that great, but even I was surprised that they closed down.
