If they get a backup like Garcia and end up getting rid of a WR anyway, then it's the same result. I'm not saying Garcia is good, but he's as good as Feeley.

Peter King says McNabb will play this weekend

Smokescreen.

Might as well baste McNabb's ribs in barbeque sauce if that happens.

BTW, Thigpen played most of preseason with broken ribs, Roethlisberger has played with them. It all depends on where it is, as they were saying yesterday

The whole thing about 6 WRs vs. 7WRs is a moot point anyway. I could care less about the 53rd man on the roster. I don't care whether it happened to be a receiver or a quarterback. They decided to keep just two quarterbacks. Now they had to bring in Garcia....just cut wide receiver #7 or offensive lineman #10 and be done with it. Neither of those players are going to help us win or lose a game anyway.

Quarterbacks have played with broken ribs before, including Jaworski, who went 21 for 29 with 194 yards and a TD before throwing in the towel at the half.
Yo, click it

Looking to trade or cut Baskett.

I'd be upset seeing Baskett leave, he's been a solid player, but depth is depth.

You can book this, no way does Vick start this season at QB. Sure, he'll get a few plays in here and there, and will be that 'weapon' people talk about, but Reid will have to have lost McNabb, Kolb and Garcia at this point before Vick starts.

He just doesn't know the system well yet. McNabb took 3 years before he was running it comfortablly and he didn't pull up single digit Wonderlick scores like Vick did.

I like the move, it gives Kolb a legitimate push and backup at this point as Garcia knows the offense and can pretty much Farve his way into the offense. If Kolb struggles, Garcia moves in. Vick will see some action before long, but you can be sure that if McNabb has rib injuries they'll keep three 'real' QB's on the roster to be sure. He's played through rib injuries before but not very well. I'd hate to see them rush him back only to play sub par. 50% McNabb is not as good as 100% Garcia IMO. 100% Kolb, and I'm not so sure at that.

This has to be devistating to Kolb. He knows that the team has zero confidence in him now. Vick will likely end up being McNabb's successor if things go forward, and if he sucks like he has in games so far, Garcia will blow past him on the depth chart.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Kolb cut by the end of the year if he doesn't perform well in the next few weeks.

couple things -

speculated last night, but bowen officially reporting that the eagles first choice would have been feeley, who will sign with the panthers today.

like i said, i would rather have garcia, but from the eagles' perspective, this is at least a small fuck-up because they refused to go into the season with a competent back-up, which i just don't understand.

second, feeley is the official number 2 with mcnown on IR. with delhomme playing terribly, i wonder what that chances that feeley could become the default starting QB are. that would certainly be an unexpected development for a team that had playoff aspirations.

This just isn't true at all. The fact is they knew they had Vick available in week 3 - they did not predict McNabb getting hurt week 1. They simply cannot play week 2 with no backup QB in case Kolb goes down so they had to sign SOMEONE who could play in an emergency. Enter Garthia.

Garcia doesn't last here past the bye week.

Garcia doesn't last here past the bye week.

i kind of doubt that, unless kolb plays really well. i mean, they are trying to clear a roster space by trading baskett. i don't really think they see vick as a viable QB option this year. so who replaces garcia on the roster if he is dropped?

They think Vick is a viable option or they wouldn't have released Feeley. They are not going to keep 4 QBs and they are not going to cut Kolb.

Not saying I agree. FWIW, I would rank them:

1. McNabb
2. Garthia
3. Vick
4. Kolb

But they won't admit they were wrong on Kolb (yet anyway)

it's not even a good impression of the way gays enunciate - more like the way an 8 year old with a speech impediment sounds.
