Seth is probably taking his Trotter jersey out of mothballs as we speak.

Meanwhile they still haven;t really replaced Dawkins, who is playing well in Denver. Macho is not the man (at least not yet.)
This is why this team is so infuriating.

BISC, I thought about that too. But there are some things I don't see.
For one, you don't just heal from worn-down knees (though I'd like for Dr. Jules to prove me wrong here; I'll gladly stand corrected). The time off may have given his body rest, but he's also older, so it's not as if he's suddenly going to be able to cover better. nor will he be able to defend sideline to sideline any better. you could draw up plays for him, but how long until teams see his limitations and start picking him apart, even in a limited capacity?
We go back to the leadership example that me and f-d had been punting around, and he's got to play more to really show his role. I just think that his role should've been more as a coach and not as a player, b/c his playing skills are really going to detract from his message, not enhance it.
I just don't see it (and for the last time, I get the intangibles).

other than Runyan, who would they bring in at this point in the season? They have to dump Garcia so there is a roster spot to fill. On the upside...what if he can actually get back to the Trotter of 4-5 years ago form? It's worth the risk.

That's just it, though - the Trotter of 4-5 years ago wasn't even here 2-3 years ago, plus you're putting in a guy that hasn't seen action since 01/07.
I'm up for the nostalgia trip, but it's not going to help them long term. Short term against Tampa and maybe even Oakland, yeah, it's going to help. After that? *shrugs*

I don't think it's low-risk, b/c backup LB is a real need, with Mays as crappy and hurt as he is, and with Gaither liable to get worn down this year. That's why they should have looked at a player who has actually played recently

To make room, they released Garcia.
Man that was short.

But kb, then you don't get the leadership aspect, which they really do need in the locker room right now (just felt like spinning the argument wheel again).
If Reid and SM feel like they can put him in a position to max his abilities, then sure. Above all, I'll be glad to be proven wrong. But I don't know if this'll end well.

bass, you gotta let go of the leadership thing, b/c you've already agreed that it's not there if he isn't playing.
I disagree with the leadership thing, anyway.

Bass, you can do things to help, but NOTHING replaces lost cartilage (aka bone on bone). Nothing. Some people do microfracture surgery but it is not particularly effective and patient's usually have chronic pain from it.

Yeah, I'm saying it's not really circular when we're acknowledging he's not a starter.
I just don't get it. Like i said, this is a real need, not a place where they can see if it works out and it doesn't matter, a la Vick, Pedro with the Phils, etc

Lets just see how he's used and what he has left before we order more cheese for the whine, ok fellas?
If its clear he's shot, etc, everyone will be able to see it and there'll be no hiding it/him.
I just think that there are positives to take from this, if you are on that team, in that lockerroom, if he can physically perform close to where he was prior to his last knee op, prior to being cut here.

KB, we've done this before in this thread, but who/what would you sign OVER trotter?
I think for now you are in "take a shot" mode.
For now.

I haven't looked at the list yet. I just find it hard to believe that there are some guys who played recently and have knee carilage who wouldn't be better

Seth
Just had to throw my comment out there since the last time we spoke in person you told me Trot was one of your favorite Eagles ever.
Maybe he can fire up the D in times of need in short yardage situations.
From what I heard his mobility was 3 times better in his 2nd workout thus the signing.
Might be a little juice left in those old creaky knees.

Byron Evans is gonna work out for the Birds this weekend.
I actually ran into ol' B&E Sunday- I thought I recognized him which kinda suprised me actually, and he confirmed that it was in fact him. He was milling around the FU Center area as I walked to the game with my daughter. Extremely humble, great guy. Offered to stop and take pics with my daughter etc- really nice guy. That was so weird.
Weird that Id recognize him after all those years and weird that i found myself just sayin "B&E?" (like that was his name) and he turned right around with a grin and said "YEP- its ME".
Wierd.
and Trotter has quotes in todays paper that would contradict KBs assertion that he heard Trot say his knees were/are shot.
Not that I dont believe you, but per Trot's quotes today in the inky, well, he claims they are fine and much better than they were years ago.
