Hilarious...there were as many Pro Bowlers on special teams as there were on defense.

Good for him, though...maybe a sign of things to come.

Considering that Rory Segrest wasn’t fired and was offered another role after doing such a terrible job and Daisher's unit was comparatively superior, what can be made of this move?

Did the blown timeout on the punt cost Daisher his job?

Was Daisher really fired because one of the best Special Teams guys (April) had suddenly become available?

Was Daisher offered another role and refused it?

The Mike Wolf firing is a head scratcher.

He's been their stregnth and conditioning coach for 15 years. If he wasn't getting the players stronger or in better condition, would it really take 15 years to figure it out?

Ask yourself that question again, FD, while you're re-viewing last week's Cowboys game.

And the ST units actually looked a lot better than in the beginning of the season, and while you can blame the timeout on Daischer, Reid could've thought on his feet and took the penalty and spun it into a positive. Guess that's too much to ask.

I still think Daisher was the one who called the timeout. I mean, anyone (player or coach) can technically call it, right?

That's my theory as to why Reid was yelling at him, which is something you never see. Fat Man does not like to have his authority usurped. See Hegemin, George.

Only difference is that you didn't get to see Daisher pushing a blocking sled before he got canned.

FD, look at all the dudes on IR this season and ask yourself again if the guy knows what he's doing.

Sure, he's been given a pass for 15 years, but each year there's some devistating injury to some top player making them miss consistant playing time. Possibly him signing off on Westbrook's 1st head injury finally lit the fuse, but the guy hasn't been that great in his role. Sure, there are a number of things wrong with the team, but if they can get someone better in the role, I'm all about it.

Why would the strength and conditioning guy have a say in the concussions? that seems weird.

also, i don't really expect the s&c coach to be able to prevent ligament damage

KB, I'm really just lashing out at all the injuries. Seeing a preservation type coach get the can tells me that they're looking at trying to get healthier which should be a good thing. I haven't really been happy with how many injuries the team has had since... forever, so it would be nice to see them getting healthier.

idk, in football this stuff happens. sometimes they have bad years like this year, sometimes they're pretty healthy. i can't look at jamal jackson's injury and say a better coach could have prevented that

S&C would have had a say on Andrews' back though, no?

i think he was in charge of strength and conditioning. i don't think he had anything to do with diagnosing injuries or concussions

Right he would be in charge of preventing injuries like sprained/pulled/torn muscles, and things like that.

how do you prevent a torn acl when a 300 pound guy bends your leg the wrong way?

With conditioning? No offense KB, but I've seen guys have their knees bent back in 45 degree angles and get back in the same game later on. They happen to be exceptional athletes that have great flexability, and not everyone on the team will have that flexability, but that's kinda what I'd guess a S&C coach is supposed to do.

If he's not the guy that keeps everyone... in condition, streched out right, worked out properly and trained on how to keep in shape, then I really don't know why he was employed with them to begin with.

A strength and conditioning coach's responsibilites are: make sure all players are supervised in the weight room, assist athletic trainer with rehabilitation of athletes, maintain thorough and accurate records of an athletes' workout, keep athletes health throughout the season by teaching proper lifting techniques and preventative and corrective exercises.

well, they are in excellent shape. you just can't expect every ligament to bounce back after having a huge dude cave it in

The S&C is not the reason for injuries. Otherwise, this would have happened in a worse way every year. Luck has a huge say in the matter. Plus, this FO takes LOTS of people who have injury problems or keeps them on the team.

I wish Fat Man would look into a mirror and say, "you're fired".

Injuries happen, and usually teams with depth make it through. Can't blame him for Jackson/Cole, though - hard to cram years of cadence into 2 weeks.

This kid can fly.. Had a decent season with the Gamecocks this year
