I'm not saying he's second to Barry Sanders. I'm saying that he probably wasn't half as good. The ONLY reason to mention Sanders was that his accomplishments for someone of the same era were behind the WORST offensive line.

I'm not saying he's even a top 5 RB. Not just second to Sanders. Statistically, he's among the best, but I think fortune favored him. I feel that he is over-rated. I respect that you feel he was great. I don't. There is no way to meaningfully resolve that argument.

I've wondered what would have happened had Blair Thomas went to Dallas and Smith to the jets

Blair would be second best to Barry Sanders in that scenario.

ENY, if Rice had Kolb throwing to him he wouldn't have been a footnote.

I feel really bad that the entire Level missed this probing, incisive report before the game.

This is Pulitzer-level reporting:

Well, McNabb got an epic level standing O yesterday. I was happy for him and Philly fans got one of those rare chance to make themselves not look retarded.

Kolb was booed almost immediately after entering the game.

He was a Cowboy. Not necessarily a shoe-in for hate, as there are more than a few Cowboys that have garnered a healthy level of respect from our fanbase over the years. Jay Novacek, Moose, and Bill Bates come to mind. These were lunchpail guys, and our fans respect those types

Philly does love overachieving white guys, don't they? (You forgot to mention Chad Hennings and Mark Stepnoski, the 1990's equivalent of Tim Lincecum)

All kidding aside, have you ever read 'Boys Will be Boys?' As it turns out, Irvin was absolutely beloved as a teammate and Emmitt became more and more reviled as his career progressed (Teammates thought he only cared about himself and money, which was true)

Jerry Jones, Barry Switzer and Deion Sanders are the ones who ultimately destroyed that dynasty.

From the You're Damned If You Do, You're Damned If You Don't Department:

Eagles fans are largely responsible for last week's loss to the Redskins

If the Eagles ever needed something quick and easy from their notoriously demanding fans it was a loud chorus of boos when former Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb was introduced before last week's game versus the Redskins. Instead Eagles fans tapped some deep, secret, surrounded-by-concrete peach pit of tender feelings and largely cheered when the public address announcer introduced the quarterback who led them to five NFC championship games and no Super Bowl wins. Epic fan fail. McNabb would have been crushed by the boos; he even might have dry-heaved on the field. Instead, he led the Redskins to a 17-12 victory. I tell ya, if it weren't for the proven brilliance of Michael Vick (who's obviously the answer at quarterback and so deserving of fans' unfettered love), you'd almost question if the Eagles and their fans know if they're on foot or on horseback.

Wonderful day to be a Philly sports fan. (And those of you who switched from the Phillies post game to the final moments of the Redskins/Colts contest were treated to McNabb's game winning drive.)

Right.

I actually did just that. I thought that perhaps the fact that the skins had all of their TOs at their disposal at the end of the game might be a factor here. Needless to say, it wasn't.

Thought it was funny that McNabb always considered himself to be along the level of Manning and Brady.

No one doubts that if Manning were in maroon in that same situation the Redskins would probably win.

Yup. That's McNabb.

The Skins fans and Shanahan will figure it out, too. He's a good player (a really good player), but you cannot count on him in crunch time. He's not accurate enough and the mistakes start piling up for some reason.

Earlier in the game Colinsworth was talking about mechanical issues the Skins were trying to fix with McNabb's footwork and he seems to be going along with it, but they also said he took the attitude of "Hey...I've accomplished a lot with my footwork the way it is", which might have been pretty telling.

He's obviously a hard worker and he's a good player, but I find it hard to believe Reid and his staff weren't aware of McNabb's footwork issues and if they couldn't be broken down in over a decade, it makes you wonder if he is even open to it.

I guess that confirms Baldingle's point a while back when he blasted McNabb for being "uncoachable".

At the same time, his footwork has thrown for 30,000 yards, so he's probably all like "you can't teach an old dog new tricks".

After 6 weeks:

KK, QBR 98.3 71 for 105 (67.6% complete) 804yards 7.7ypp 5TD's 2INT

Vick, QBR 108.8 59 for 96 (61.5% complete) 799yards 8.3ypp 6TD 0INT

McRib, QBR 78.8 125 for 215 (58.1% complete) 1561yards 7.3ypp 5TD 5INT

At this rate, the trade's looking pretty darn good.

Here's a solid breakdown of how bad McNabb was on Sunday, including some details of how he initially ran the two-minute offense (it took 31 seconds for one play to go 10 yards-- sound familiar?).

Right now, he's playing himself out of a decent contract. At this point in his career, he may be better off if he just retires and goes into broadcasting because I don't think he's gonna get any better, and if he keeps playing at this quickly degrading pace, this is how people will remember him. Any remote shot at the Hall of Fame keeps looking more and more unrealistic by the second.
