The problem is part Vick, but Vick's awareness is a reflection of the awareness that Reid imparts to his team. McNabb didn't know about the overtime rules. They never know how to run a 2 minute drill. Etc.

For a guy with an enormous binder (likely recipes) he doesn't prepare his team for certain situations.

Is there ANY excuse that Andy doesn't remind him a hundred times to throw it away if his first few reads aren't there?

You really have to take your hat off and applaud a spectacular failure like today's performance, don't you?

I mean, it was so bad it was almost poetic. You'd think someone had scripted this mess just so it the knife could be stabbed in your gut at the most dramatic time, only to see the fatal wound occur in such an amazingly anti-climatic way.

Somewhere Michael Leighton is smiling.

Talon, the Contac Us thing works? I thought I had problems with that with the bet with Fagel last year.

If that doesn't go through by tomorrow I'll just find Uber's email on the FFB site and email him there.

How'd the crowd at your bar react, Talon?

How'd the crowd at your bar react, Talon?

As I said before, a large contingent was none too pleased when I played "I'm a Loser" after Buffalo scored to open the half. They seemed to be led by the drunk ogre who was reminiscent of the suburban tools who would always sit around me in the Linc.

Once the Eagles scored, he got all fired up and started repeatedly shouting at me, "WHO'S THE LOSER NOW?!?"

Obviously, you, pal.

Of course, everyone was getting their hopes up as the game continued, and I think the vast majority really believed they'd tie it up. The INT dashed those hopes, but once they got them in 4th-and-short, most everyone thought the ball was coming back. And then it was Juqua time, which was met by stunned silence.

It was weird. Because the bar is small and gets packed early, having to turn people away, we tend to get a different crowd each week with a smattering of hardcore regulars. Usually, we wind up seeing people four or five times per season, but today was a lot of newbies...and they were angry. There were times when I thought we'd have our first major fight during a game in the last five years, but at the end, it was more stunned resignation that this organization blows from top to bottom.

In one of the rare moments of the day when I wasn't making light of this pathetic situation, I got on the mic and said, "We'll see you back here next week when the Eagles take on the Redskins at 1:00," which was met by uproarious laughter. I guess the hopes have truly collapsed for the Kool Aide drinkers.

I'd be surprised if anyone shows next week, but hopefully, we'll have some other folks who will join me in cheering on the collapse of the Reid regime.

Hey, the Warrick Watch was all mine back in the day, and admittedly it was a "bad hair" moment. I'll chalk it up to the burning desire for a playmaker at that position, and the fact that he was tearing it up at FSU in '99.

Still can't believe anybody actually remembers it. Loved the little floating head we put in there with it too....ah the memories are thick like flies....

Here's Merrill Reese's call of Parker jumping offsides. Mike Quick sounds like a total doof...."I knew it", sounding like a complete dope.

Also, when Fitzpatrick was asked if he thought the Eagles would jump offsides, he said "oh yeah".

I'm not excusing Parker's horrible error, but why is it such a given that Buffalo would not run a play? If they make that first down, the game is over, and Buffalo had been gashing the Hell out of them on the ground all day long. They only needed to go a few inches for a first, and honestly, New England has made that play numerous times. Granted, Buffalo is not New England, but it's a great strategy because the defense has to play conservative, being afraid to jump, giving the offense the advantage if they choose to take it.

Of course, if the Eagles ever tried this on offense, they would be the ones to jump offsides on their own hard count.

Ever since the 2nd half TD, they had been running ultra-conservative plays, not even bothering to test the defense. Everything was either short passes or screens. They could've run a play, true, and I think they would have if there was <:05 on the play clock. Still, this goes all the way back to Pop Warner: "When do we move?" "When the ball moves!"

Hola Hooky. I honestly thought warrick would be most excellent back in the day as well. It's quite amazing to see how the site has progressed over the years, although, the lack of floating heads is sorely missed...LOL. Stanley "Spadowski" must be dissappointed as well? ;)

I figured now would be a good time to pull a Drew Magary writeup from Deadspin that was written 2 years ago. From the column "Why Your Team Sucks - Philadelphia Eagles"

It's amazing how so little has changed.

1. Always beware the offseason winners.

Andy Behrens picked them to win it all. Vegas has them at 11-1 odds to pull it off. They're a chic pick.

Chic picks always end up fucking up. Take it from a fan of another team that made a big offseason move that will almost certainly end up becoming a flaming helicopter wreck. A chic preseason Super Bowl will fuck you in the ass. It's like those fashionable, not-quite-as-traditional college teams that are ranked in the Top 5 of the AP poll, like Georgia was last year. Teams that are "loaded" coming into the season always end up fucking it all up. And why should the Eagles be immune to any of this inevitable failed hype? After all…

2. Hey, Andy Reid's still coaching this team, right? Remember, this is a guy who failed to inform his star quarterback last year that games can end in ties. Not only is Andy Reid a poor game manager, he's an AGGRESSIVELY POOR game manager. Not only will he end up fucking up the game, but he'll fuck it up by using the most illogical strategy he can possibly devise. More importantly, he will take hours upon hours to implement that strategy. For the Eagles, huddling during the last two minutes of a game isn't an option, it's fucking mandatory. It's just the kind of team-building exercise that can really help Reid's men cope with the agony of losing yet another 4-point game that ended with Brian Westbrook getting stuffed on a power rushing play that he wasn't well-suited for.

So Philly can bring in all the fancy new skill position players they like. They won't be poised to do the team much good when there's 90 seconds left and the team is STILL FUCKING HUDDLING when everyone at the bar is shouting at the TV, "WHY THE FUCK ARE THEY STILL HUDDLING? ARE THEY FUCKING RETARDED?!" That's the true legacy of Andy Reid. It takes a special kind of coach to make every random asshole in the bar feel like they could do a better job AND be correct in just such an assumption. Worst of all, Jim Johnson is gone, and not around to be the all-purpose coverall for Reid's numerous, glaring fuckups.

The best part is that it wasn't even written by an Eagles fan. It's so dead-on that you'd think someone on the level wrote it.
