I always thought Chucky was going to be the next head coach, since (take all items with the Sal Pal brand grain of salt) the Eagles like him, he supposedly has an out clause with MNF, and I thought he said he wouldn't take the Philly job with Reid there (which makes me think even more that Reid would just move up and make room).

In my opinion, I think the power struggle began over DeSean Jackson's contract negotiations. Reid probably blamed the whole 8-8 season on Jackson, and the fact that he was unmotivated due to Joe Banner's contract negotiations, and that poisoned the whole locker room. Reid probably reminded Lurie that Banner fucked up Brian Dawkins's contract negotiations and Reid probably claimed that the defense wouldn't have sucked for the past 2 seasons had they re-signed Dawkins. Finally, Reid probably told Lurie that every player hates Banner (which is probably true).

Reid probably sent Derek Boyko to Lurie to back him up, that Banner was a PR nightmare. Boyko probably provided plenty of surveys and polls to support Reid and kill Banner.

By the time the Eagles were 4-8 (possibly as early as 1-4), I think Banner started talking to Lurie about replacing the head coach. Banner was probably lining up potential candidates. By the end of the season, it became obvious to Lurie that he had to get rid of one of them, since Reid was blaming Banner, and Banner was blaming Reid.

If the Eagles win the SB this season they can blame the previous 20 years on Joe Banner.

Is Banner still hanging around NovaCare? I know when the "mutual decision" was made, the Eagles let him keep his office, however when is his deadline for packing up his personal belongings and vacating the facility?
