This year, I tried to employ two philosophies:
1) Try to limit my starting options by acquiring reliable players in the high-scoring positions.
2) Grab all the free agent QBs I can handle for future trades.
Step 1 was accomplished by drafting Tomlinson and Shaun Alexander. Todd Heap has done well, too. Koren Robinson has been decent as the #1 WR. The #2 slot has been filled by a rotating cast of characters, such as Tai Streets, Chris Chambers, and Jimmy Smith.
Step 2 was accomplished by grabbing Matt Hasselbeck and all-time greatest free-agent steal, Steve McNair. (Our league used a screwy ranked auto draft.) I had drafted Trent Green but wasn't playing him, so I shipped him off for Carolina's Defense. McNair has been delivering great numbers, but Hasselbeck has seen a lot of nice days go wasted on the bench, so I'm willing to trade McNair.
I beat this guy last week, 122-56, and his QBs are McNabb (0 pts.) and Harrington (-2 pts.). His one weapon his Randy Moss, and I think I'm going to pry him loose.
He needs a QB desperately, so I want to trade McNair and Streets (or Chambers or Smith), for Moss and McNabb. I will lose a couple of points by trading McNair, but Hasselbeck should be sufficient, and Moss gives huge potential. McNabb will be the backup, ready for a late-season surge.
Truthfully, this guy NEEDS to make this trade. Points-wise he will gain far more than he'll lose. Still, I hesitate to deal McNair and acquire McNabb.
Am I crazy to pull the trigger on this deal or is it a lock?
