Looking for trade help

Hi fellas- hope I can get a hand here, because my team is drowning after a 3-0 start. Here's my roster (12 team league- 3 WRs, no TE):

QB- Mcnabb
RB- Ahmann Green
RB- Travis Henry
WR- Koren Robinson
WR- Reche Caldwell
WR- Rod Smith
K- Jeff Wilkins
DST- Eagles D

My current bench:

QB- Big Ben (I'm not spelling that)
RB- Dunn
RB- Reuban Droughns
WR- Jerry Porter
WR- Anquan Boldin (injured)

Myn team started off hot, but I've been blown out bad the past 2 weeks because I've had a double bye (with Mcnabb and the Eagles D) and 2 seriously underperforming backs in Henry and Green.

Making matters worse, I drafted one veteran WR and picked up the rest on "upside", thinking my first 3 picks (Green, Mcnabb, Henry) would keep me in most games by themselves.

Now I'm afraid I might be fucked.

The trade is this:

I've been offered Rudi Johnson and Derrick Mason for Ahmann Green.

I drafted Green with the 4th overall pick, but between his achiles injury, the return of fumlerama, the loss of Flanigan on his line, and the the fact that their defense is forcing the packers to throw the ball from the middle of the second quarter on...

Would you do this deal considing all of Green's circumstances, the fact that I get Rudi Back, and the fact that I would have a bolstered WR coprs- especially if Boldin can pick it up as the playoffs approach?

I's hesitant, but other Green, Mcnabb's my only tradable commodity and I need to get better.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'd be inclined to hold Green. He can't keep going this badly and has some easier games on the horizon, I think. Def. 2 vs Minnehaha. You could definitely use some WR help. Any way to move some combo of Ben/Henry and a WR to get a little help there?

I'm going to try to get something like that going, but I think that between Henry's production, his injury, Magahee breathing down his neck, and Ben's relative mediocrity in a 12 team league, I'm not going to pull much.

I did have an offer a couple weeks ago- Chambers for Henry (straight up) but with the QB situation in Miami, I wasn't sure about that one.

Also, in a crap stroke of luck, Dunn and Green both have a bye in week 9. If I deal Henry, I've got to be prepared to go with absolute scrubs at both spots that week.

I passed on the Green offer- just couldn't bear to do it.

Now I've got another possible option.

With the emergence of Droughns, I've potentially got a deal worked out involving Henry for Chad Johnson, straight up.

Anyone have an opinion on that?

My WR corps. has taken a turn for the worse with the rumors swirling that Koren Robinson will be suspoended for 4 games and Reche Caldwell is out for the season with a bum knee.

They went from piss poor to piss poor and unavailable...ugh.

In a heartbeat. CJ can't post numbers this bad all season. Can he?

That's what I'm thinking, though Carson Palmer may be part of the problem.

Other than the fact that I'm going to be screwed a little bit in RB coverage later in the aseon (with byes) I can afford to deal him...

if the bengals and marvin lewis finally come to their senses and go back to kitna, by all means pull the trigger to get CJ. but right now, that team is not very good. and even though henry is doing that well, RB's are a much more valuabel commodity.
i would try to pick up another WR on the wire. without knowing your league, i'm guessing these guys are available and would try to get one of them:

brandon lloyd, marcus robinson, jabar gaffney, michael clayton, keary colbert.

as a rule, i would never trade a starting RB for a WR. there's too many wideouts out there.

I agree with a lot of that also. I just think that Travis Henry and the Buffalo offense is terrible. Only guy semi-worth having is Moulds.

Thanks for the advice. ED- of the guys you mentioned, only Lloyd is available, though I think I'm going to grab him.

I also hear you you on the "no RB for WR" rule, but as putrid as my WRs are, I don't see how I can win like this.

Also on the back of my mind is the fact that the Bills stink, their o-line stinks, Henry is slightly injured, and Magahee filled in for one game and grossly outperformed Henry's season high effort.

If I were the Bills, I'd be AT LEAST splitting carries from this point forward and let the situation sort itself out. The way things are, I'm not sure that would work out in my favor.

This REALLY blows up in my face if Droughns gets hurt/benched, though.

I think I have to make the deal. I worked out a trade where I give Henry up for eithr Moulds or Johnson, straight up.

This might end up burning me, but if I sit still, I'm screwed.

f-d, I've got these available take make me an offer...
J. Stevens (Sea - TE)
K. Jones (Det - RB)
T. Duckett (Atl - RB)
D. Hall (KC - WR)
and even:
L. Jordan (NYJ - RB) I ws hoping they would have traded him to another team that would use him more, but they didn't and now it seems he is actually getting a little more time and touches had 7 points last week.

if you're interested let me know via the league...

F-D,
I'd make the trade in a heartbeat. Believe me, you can get a RB as productive if not better in the long run than Henry off the scrap heap. Case in point I'll give you three RB's right now that you probably could pick up off the waiver wire for nothing. If your league makes you take player specifically for ST points like Dante Hall as a WR or B.J Sams as a RB, Sams should be available in most leagues. He'll get on average the same amount of yards per game with his kick returning duties as Henry will get you splitting carries. Not to mention he has the possibility of breaking for six every game. Unless you're playing with a bunch of Bucs fans, M Alstott is a guy people stayed away from this year because of injury that might be available. He is a poor mans Jerome Bettis. Gruden uses him in short yardage and goal line. Sowell for the Jets doesn't rush much but Edwards uses him in the receiving game and while Curtis Martin is the mainstay, Sowell has close to 160 yards receiving for the year with a TD. These aren't gonna be your studs, but if you need a insurance back or bye fill in these guys should do in a pinch. Its the monyball approach to FF. Trust me, I've used in other leagues and it worked.

I may have really helped myself with this deal...

I ended up getting the other guy to agree to this trade:

I Give: Dunn and Brandon Lloyd

I Get: Chad Johnson and Quentin Griffin

Don't ask me how I swung that, but I get the WR I want AND a backuyp to Droughns (in case of injury or benching) for a lesser RB and a throw-in player just to even out the rosters.

This guy doesn't have a RB to start this week and actually held Dunn in higher regard than Henry, at this point.

The only thing that can stop it now is if the league vetoes the agreement.

Fingers crossed...

Quentin Griffin helps you none. Shanahan already said in the instance Droughns goes down or can't produce they will use Tatum Bell. Griffin is just too small and fumbles too much for his liking. Good luck.

...... also Ahman Green has been having achilles problems so his carries may be limited. I would have kept Dunn, but what do I know.

Hulk, I hear you on Griffin, but Bell is a FA in my league, so as of today, I have my choice (and may carry all three for a little while).

I just know that a Denver RB is gold because their production and dedication to the run is guaranteed, no matter who's running.

As for Green, I have to stick with him. I can still get Rudi Johnson/Dyson for him, but those guys have their own issues.

I could also get Barlow/Toomer for them- again, not a lock.

As for Dunn, he has 6 TDs already- which he can't keep up- and hasn't ben THAT great running the ball.

Last week, ATL turned to Duckett and he performed, so I have that fear hanging over my head as well.

The final thing that made Dunn more attractive for me to trade is the fact that he has a bye the same week as Green (9). Now that I keep Henry, provided he doesn't lose his starting spot, I still have the bye week replacement already on my roster.

I dunno...justify, justify, justify.

FD - Not that Chad Johnson is having a particularly good year but you needed something. Your current receivers are brutal!

Not blaming you, it's just how the season has played out. I liked Porter in August too.

Is Michael Clayton available? I'd try to grab him if so.

As for Dunn - he's been bothered by a hamstring injury. He's still the number one option and will return in that role once healthy. He's a better fit in that offense than Duckett.

But if you have one Bronco running back, having the entire Denver backfield on your roster helps... figuring out who to start week-to-week is the problem. HA!

Griffin was good for week one and has been on the shelf since. Unless there is a major injury to Droughns, Griff will never see the light of day. Dunn will score two TD's this week just to spite you.

Johnson- I hear you on my WRs- that's why I had to make a deal.

I mean, I figured Rod Smith would be my "rock" of consistent, but not spectacular production.

I figured Robinson/Porter were each due for breakout years.

I figured I'd get Boldin back at some point to replace any of them if they failed.

Just didn't work out...I essentially missed on every single one of them.

That said, when Mcnabb, Henry, Green are all performing, I could play with them alone and still win...they haven't been for the past month. (also- clayton isn't available- though I did draft Galloway at the beginning of the year!...another miss)

Hulk, I hate you.

Just wanted to throw an update out here...

I got burned pretty badly with my backup RB position, having traded Dunn and kept Henry. Henry lost his job and I had to end up started fullbacks for the bye weeks of my starting backs (it's a deep league)- both went of for zero points...that cost me.

Conversely, I was able to grab Bell when Griffin got hurt and Davenport as a backup to Green (that really came in handy).

Mcnabb stayed hot all year, Droughns has been consistent, Green snapped out of his early season funk (somewhat), and Chad Johnson has been the most productive WR in the league since I made that trade.

My starting lineup has been the following for the last several weeks:

QB- Mcnabb
RB- Droughns
RB- Green
WR- Chad Johnson
WR- Rod Smith
WR- Jerry Porter
K- Jeff Wilkins
DST- Eagles

Essentially, what started out as a disaster of a season has now turned out pretty well.

Despite having more points scored on me than any other team in the league, I was able to clinch a playoff spot with a week to go (my team is second or 3rd iin the league for points scored) and the serious weakness of my team- the WRs- have actually carried my RBs for the past few weeks.

Between the playoff spot and the pick 'em we have every week- I've already made a profit on the season.

Just thought an update was in order, even though no one probably cares.
