Okay, in my money league (the one where my entire team didn't get injured) I'm right in the thick of things. After some great trades (getting Drew Brees for Nate Burleson!), my lineup is pretty set. But Brees has a BYE and Captain Injury Steve McNair is looking doubtful. Here's my roster:

QB - Drew Brees, Steve McNair
RB - Jamal Lewis, Dominick Davis, Onterrio Smith, Steven Jackson
WR - Tory Holt, Jimmy Smith, Roy Williams, David Patten
TE - Antonio Gates, Jason Witten
DEF - Ravens
K - Doug Brien

My league only plays 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 DEF, and 1 K. As I see it, the only "cut-able" guys on my squad are Steven Jackson or David Patten, although I hold out hope that an injury to someone will increase their trade value. With McNair looking very iffy, I need a QB this week. Available free agent QBs include:

- Vinny (never)
- Carson Palmer
- David Garrard
- Billy Volek
- Quincy Morgan

I've considered cutting Jackson and rolling the dice with Garrard.

My other option is a trade, and I've been offered either Aaron Brooks or Joey Harrington for either Dominick Davis or Onterrio Smith. Of the two, I think Smith is a better candidate to trade because of the crowded Vikings backfield. I do intend to trade one of them at some point before the deadline, and I've considered trying to package them with either Williams or Jimmy Smith in exchange for an upper-tier player.

Bear in mind that my league is a keeper league (one player), and right now, I don't have a bonafide keeper player on my roster who is without question marks.

So should I roll the dice with a free agent like Garrard, or should I pull the trigger on a trade like Brooks (facing KC at home) for O. Smith?
