Hey EAG,
Regardless of your feelings for D-sly, I personally found it bothersome that while although you don't feel what you said was a slur, you showed no remorse even after someone others agreed it can interpreted that way. Granted its only words and some others might not be offended, but I've found that people who think nothing of disrespecting me verbally, at some point would think nothing of doing so in other ways.Just because you don't mind would could be intepreted as racial slurs being said to you, doesn't condone you doing it to someone else.
Just my .02

Couldn`t have said it better myself.
Sometimes I`m not the most PC guy in the world, but if I insult someone UNINTENTIONALLY I`ll do the
manly thing and apologize, not make excuses.

Hulk,
I appreciate your viewpoint, and there is no animosity from me to you. I really hope you feel the same way.
We've been over this many times. (Was it yesterday or two days ago, I can't even remember) The term that I used was obviously NOT a slur against Italians (at least in the context I used it in 2003, maybe it was in 1930, but no longer). By apologizing, it would be by default that I was admitting I slurred Italians, and therefore kind of a "de facto" admission of guilt. I still maintain that I didn't do that (slur Italians). I briefly apologized the other day to get people off of my back, and I regretted it.
D-sly, who has used actual slurs in the past as well as yesterday (that I could care less about), was all of the sudden up in arms over something and proceeded to cry and lament how bad Italians have it here and what an asshole I am. It's an "I'm a victim" attitude that frankly I can't stand.
Also, I wanted to make sure that I fought the charges (that I was a bigot). It's not a label you want stuck to ya, especially when untrue, know what I mean?
Honestly, does anyone here think that I feel that I'm some sort of bigot against Italians or any other group for that matter?

What would a 50 year-old guy who picks fights on the Interenet know about "immaturity"?

Actually, no one ever said you were a bigot and by apologizing does mean you are admitting you are one. You indicated yourself, you were not using it as a slur, so that being said, all you had to say (at least in my mind) was "I didn't mean it as slur and if it came out that way I apologize." It would have been over, but it seemed like you wanted a consensus on whether the word was a slur or not, that wasn't the point, D-sly as a Italian told you point blank that it can and usually is taken that way, I just agreed. You might consider it borderline but quite frankly since Vin Diesel is bald, rarely wears black and to my knowledge doesn't drive a camaro, found it unnessary to say guido. It seemed to imply his ethnicity which really has nothing ot do with the fact that he is a no talent lunkhead.

Gotcha, Hulk. I just thought a South Philly "tough guy" ought to have some thicker skin and be able to recognize a real insult when he sees one.
Vin a "G-word"? Up for debate, I guess, but I'd put him in that category...maybe moreso baased on characters I've seen him play. But I digress.
I'm crazy? Daddysly, I wish you'd chuck a water fountain through a 100 story window and follow it out (yeah, I've seen that movie too).
Sly, I love how you're proud that this Parking Lot is your legacy. You remind me of someone who brags that they forced the owners of a strip joint institue a two-drink minimum.

I don't know about tough guys, but they do have this thing about respect, giving and receiving respect. As do I, also it wasn't said to pick a fight or got all "PC" on ya, just a matter of consideration. Besides, they are guys you want to have YOUR back in a bind.

About 20 years later than you, Pops.
Hulk, I don't need any hired guns fighting my battles for me. Hate to have overly sensitive guys willing to fight at the drop of a hat at my back. Don't need that type of action, too old for that shit. Although I guess some people never grow out of it.
