I'll be there with three others in tow. Hopefully some Level folks are planning to attend.

Any chance of this being the turkey fryer tailgate of the season? I forget who owns that thing.

Im done for the yr., and Greg (DGB) owns the fryer and I think he's done too.

No Dean-O, no Eagle In DC, no BBE, no DGB, im almost positive, for the rest of the yr.

I think FEF and Nugget are goin to 1 more game, the NYG one.

These tailgates have taken a nosedive from yesteryear.

Actually a few reasons off the top of my head:

People have moved further away

As the lives of our children/having children; time constraints and other obligations neseccitate that you miss some games

The team some can say, mailed in this season as a lame duck one, back in April- thus the effort one would normally put forth in arriving extremely early to secure the spot, setting up, etc. doesn't have the same payoff.

I personally found myself in need of some quick cash this summer, and got what I needed by sellin off the Giants, Bills and Bears games in 3 days.

Also, for me, those days were just so effin long. Sometimes gettin down there and sittin solo for hours before anyone arrived, just to have a spot, derpivin myself of sleep, I guess as I got older and again, the family aspect is a large part of it all the way round, it just doesnt hold the same payoff for me to do week in/week out, especially when do to many factors listed already, many of the guys who would always attend arent locks to go to each game and level guys like Scotty/Hooky/Hulk/Tat/Nova just to name a few, dont go as often either- again, likely due to the process of maturation/family obligations.

I can't speak for everyone who lives a significant distance from the stadium, but when the Eagles blow and put a lousy product on the field, the motivation just isn't there to spend the money and time it takes to get to a game. I still watch, of course, but I do so in the comfort of my bar....and if I'm not there to DJ, the local populace gets pissed.

That being said, last year's Jacksonville game, one of the worst games I've ever seen the Birds play, featured a tailgate that bordered on epic. It was one for the ages, featuring a bevy of artery-clogging deep-fried goodness and one turkey glove. Hours later, all hope would be lost for the season, and then weeks later, hope sprang eternal. Perhaps another delusional miracle will ignite some fire under our asses this week. It's doubtful but possible.

The fact that I have been to more Temple football games this year than Eagles games speaks volumes to where this team has gone. Honestly, my Sundays this year have been dominated with travel either to or from places for either leisure and or work. Not to mention the home games sans the Detroit one have been absolute suckfests'.

How dare you acuse me of growing up... I'm peter pan biotch... just with arthitis not to mention sitting on a warm bar stool is usually better than the cold/rainy stadium...

That said I'm curious Hulk what bar do you DJ at, during the game??? hhmmm do I see a road trip in the offing?!? Jersey is a little easier than NYC for me anyway...

Dang, that's too bad. I always enjoy hanging out with all of you whenever things get together for a tailgate. My wife was actually psyched to see everyone. This is the last game I have tickets for this season so hopefully things will pick back up again next year.

I have to agree with Talon about last year's turkey fryer tailgate. That was a fantastic time. If we do it again next year, I'd make the trip for that one with or without tickets.

I'll probably check this thread again right before we leave for the game if anybody their mind and wants to meet up. The Eagles are 2-0 for me so far this year and I'm hoping they'll keep my streak alive.

The J-Ville gate was 1 of the better ones in years, tho nothin will EVER top the one for the NFCCG that they won.

That one was EPIC.

J-Ville was good, but the NFC champ game was unreal.

We had tents, heaters, built-in urinals and a shirtless monty on a 20 degree day.

Adjacent to the Snow Bank Urinals- let us not forget the well stocked snow bank bar.

Carpet flooring in the tents, with see through walls keepin all that heat in- it was downright WARM in there- everyone was takin off their layers. Only puttin em on to go out and throw somethin on the grill.

That was the best tailgate I think I will ever attend in my entire life.
From the planning, the execution, the amount of outta town guests (Effin Betasite comin in with the Family from the West Coast? Atlanta Iggle? To name but a couple)

Dude- that was an epic frickin tailgate.)

"Dude- that was an epic frickin tailgate."

Yeah, it was. It wasn't only the tailgate that was epic, it was the stories of how we all wound up there. Seth touched on a few, but another one that stuck with me was O-town. The guy makes arrangements to come in early to avoid the snow, only to get diverted to Newark when PIA closes. I don't remember the specifics, but in a very "Planes, Trains, & Automobiles-esque" fashion, he combines rental cars, shared rides, dinner with the families of kind strangers, and last-ditch subway rides to get to the game.

It was also one of the few times I've seen beer turn into a slushy from the time it left the tap to the time you get to your seat.

The post-game meet-up/beat down were good times as well.

I think O-town wound up being diverted somewhere else. For some reason, I keep thinking Cleveland, Cincinnati, or Baltimore. It was really a crazy story.

Talon, I seriously thought that you might just get the hypothermia that day. The way I remember it, you had like a fleece jacket, jersey & knit hat on when the rest of us were like 4 layers deep.

That day FLEW BY.

I arrived in S. Philly, met Monty and Nova at like what, 11pmish? Tried to line up outside the gates only to be moved by cops.

Back to Nova's place for a few hours and then back to Broad St. to line our three cars up as the 1st three of what soon became a long line, at like 4amish? That was insane. Lots open and we flew in there and methodically spread out all the way up the row along Broad st. side of the FU lot, parking all three of our vehicles sideways takin a couple spots and jumpin out, placin cones in all the spots up the row between our cars- like gold miners stakin their claim.

What an exhausting morning but the whole thing flew by.
Next thing ya know, everyone's arriving and helpin set up, shoveling, makin tent walls, firing up generators, it all came together seamlessly.

Not one thing that I can think of that coulda been improved upon.

Just the perfect day out there.

Plus, copious amounts of Irish whiskey never hurt.

Seth nailed it.

I do, however, plan on making more games next year. I miss the gates.

But, as someone said, the expense and inconvenience for out-of-towners to see a poor product has kept me away this year.
