Jaxadelphia's home base is Bob Marlins Sports Grille at 798 Third St. (A1A) in Jacksonville Beach (904-270-1915). A "welcome Eagles" party will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday. A pep rally will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday. A tailgate party in the parking lot will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday. Try the fried pickles.

For those staying North of Jax, esp. South GA...

Exit 6 off 95, try the fabylous BBQ at THE GA PIG. It's a dumpy A-frame building tucked into the woods on the North side of 17. It's maybe 150 yards off the exit. Terrific chopped pork and Brunswick Stew...

If you're staying in Jax or just south of Jax, head to WHITEY'S FISH CAMP. Unbelievable Fried Catfish dinner, all U can eat with slaw, hush puppies and such. It's at Doctor's Inlet or Doctor's Cove, something like that. Haven't been there in a number of years, but it's at a nice inlet marina where fisherman dock.

These are the two best places within 50 miles of Jacksonville.
