Atlanta= would you be able to buy a group of tickets from them (seems they arent gonna sell to anyone outside the ATL. area) once we know how many are "IN" - which should be soon guys, so we can send him a check (IF HE SAYS HE CAN) so we can have a nice Eagle section?
All sittin together?

Might be able to do it, but a lot depends on when my freelance checks come in.
But believe me, I don't care how much crap they'll be talking about the Georgia Dome always sellin' out recently. Tix aren't hard to find.
And as far as gettin' a place to stay, as long as it's near a Marta line, you're fine gettin' to the stadium. There's a couple stops right by the stadium. If you're talkin' about being near places to party, here ya go:
Downtown: Downtown sucks. Other than a couple clubs, it's a complete ghost town on weekends.
Midtown: High gay population so if you're homophobic, you might freak out. But it's a great area with lots of restaurants, bars, clubs and Piedmont Park. Atlanta's Central Park.
Little Five Points: Bars. Lots of tattoos and a few mohawks although a couple places moved in with a more yuppie vibe.
East Atlanta: Less known than the other places to go out. Kind of the new Little Five Points. Local music at The Earl.
Highlands: Strip of bars. Places to hear music. College feel but a touch more upscale.
Buckhead: Party place for tourists. Went way downhill after the Ray Lewis thing went down. Still can have a good time, but now has a lot of people that were attracted to go there because of the Ray Lewis thing. "That's where the guy got murdered! Let's party there!" Losers.
Vinings: OTP (outside the perimeter). The only place I'll go OTP and don't do it often, but it does have a sick girl to guy ratio.
Most popular strip clubs: C'mon, you're goin' to one of the strip club capitals of the world while in the bible belt. Ya gotta at least stop in to say hello.
The Cheetah. http://www.thecheetah.com Amazing women. Completely nude.
The Pink Pony. More variety of women who get closer than The Cheetah. Of course, also completely nude. Welcome to the Bible Belt!
And by the way, down here, strip clubs can be a place to just go out with friends, women included. Doesn't have the same filthy stigma associated with it in other places. Have gone to a few parties for girl friends at The Cheetah and The Pony. You haven't lived until you've seen a beautiful friend of yours get her first lap dance/blow job shot from another beautiful woman.

Hey Atlanta got a question for ya ... Ever been to a place called American Pie? Not sure where it was, but it was north of the city. Went there a couple times a few years back and Sunday night's were awesome - titties everywhere. Apparently Sundays are the "hospitality industry's" night off. But then I heard this year from a buddy that's it's not the same as it used to be.
I'll also be making the trip to Atlanta, so I was wondering if "The Pie" is still good. If you know anything, thanks in advance ...

Eagles fans at Augusta?

Been to American Pie before. Just north of the perimeter on Roswell Rd. Known for bein' extremely cheesy which attracts the strippers. Sunday is a day off for most.

First off, for those that don't know, the Augusta thing was a JOKE. Getting on Augusta is IMPOSSIBLE unless you KNOW a member. Most of which are worth upwards of 100 Million dollars.
The place I went to was a little north of the Stone Mountain exit off the beltway NW of the city. Pretty large sign that you could from the highway. Something like "All American Sports Bar" or "All Star Sports Bar" or "American Sports Bar". Not sure. I don't think it was a chain of any sort (NOT

the All Star grille, that place is TERRIBLE)
What I DO know is this, they had possibly 3 of the most "talented" barmaids I have ever laid eyes on, and would be more than happy to make a glorious return to that little watering hole.

"once we know how many are "IN" - which should be soon guys, so we can send him a check (IF HE SAYS HE CAN) so we can have a nice Eagle section? "
Me x 2-may have a friend joining me. She's from Cincy-is a Bengals fan-can't help it. It's probably a chromosomal abnormality or a synaptic malfunction.
What happened to PayPal? Insta-cash.
How many of us could get on the same flight? Air marshalls love that stuff.
"And by the way, down here, strip clubs can be a place to just go out with friends, women included." This is good. Strip clubs are usually more interesting. Not above a little 'filthy stigma', though. Too old to give a shit about anybody else's 'stigma'. Don't mean I'd hand over all my paper money when ya'll run out, though.
"I'll catch up with the golfin set AFTER the 4pmers....we can head somewhere to take in the Sunday Nt. Game... "
There's a plan. Football weekends are football weekends. With bourbon. And strip clubs. Hopefully food.
Actually, that's applicable to every weekend mental health break.
Is A'lanta one of those smoke-free zones?

Out of curiosity, I called the Falcons ticket office today...
1. The Falcon's need to offer a course in customer service...getting info was like pulling teeth.
2. Groups are defined as 25 or more
3. They offer group sales to last year's group ticket buyers first...He said that "it was highly unlikely" that there would be any group tickets available for this game.
4. I put my name on the waiting list for groups and told him where I was calling from and who the tickets would be for (a bunch of Eagle fans coming in from all different parts of the country). He didn't balk at this.
5. According to him, we can get single game seats together (if available) but he didn't give me a date.
Other ideas...does anybody know if we may be able to get a discount on rooms if we call ourselves a convention or something of that nature? May be cheaper to reserve a block of rooms then trying to make our own reservations.
From my experience, it's easier if you stay close to either the stadium or airport and cab it where every you want to go...

Sounds like youve done this kinda thing b4, and were nice/dumb enough to share this fact in front of all of us.
Congrats! You've been nominated, elected and sworn in as the accomodations co-ordinator.
Seriously, thats cool that you have some sorta expertise here- should we consider gettin a group of rooms relatively soon? How much cheaper would that be?

This is what I have found:
1. Rooms
a. For a group rate, we must reserve a minimum of 10 rooms (not guests…rooms).
b. The cost for a group rate verses standard rate varies from hotel chain to hotel chain, but the savings are significant (see #5)
c. Once a group rate contract has been signed, all rooms must be paid for (so if I/we sign a contract for 10 rooms and only 7 rooms are taken, then I/we are responsible for the other 3 rooms)
2. Area
a. Downtown is expensive
b. Airport is not too bad
c. Suburbs are less
d. Georgia Dome is 15 minutes from airport…most hotels recommend using MARTA
e. The ariport is the only area that I have requested quotes for. If you want downtown, let me know. The 'burbs seem to far out of it, unless it's a resort.
3. Dates
a. For a group rate, we need to check in on the same day and check out on the same day
b. For quote purposes, I've said Check in Sept 10 (Sat) check out Sept 13 (Tuesday)…this can be altered, but too much time in the south may make you yearn for people who at least talk fast.
4. Other
a. I've asked for a Sunday Morning private room with brunch to be included in the quote…don't know why, but it seems like that's what my wife would want me to do, but it does give you an idea on costs of everything else with in the hotel (more expensive the hotel, the more expensive the beer will be at the bar)
b. I will be playing golf…you guys can due what you want with your putters.
5. Example of Costs:
a. Hyatt: $129 per room per night. The “normal” price is $219…this is a higher end hotel. They have 3 restaurants and a sports bar opened until 2am. They have a work out facility. The buffet would be $30 per person. Free shuttle to and from airport as well as to MARTA.
b. Double Tree: $89 for Single and Double occupancy and $99 for triple or quad occupancy. The “normal price” is $129. This is a more moderate priced hotel. The buffet would be $25 per person. They have a fitness room. Free shuttle to and from airport as well as to MARTA
c. Hampton Inn: I have not received a proposal from them, but it looks like around $69 per night. This is more of a budget friendly hotel.
d. Waiting on Embassy Suites as we get free breakfast (and it's normally very good).
e. I've been open with everyone that I have talked to as to the fact that we are Eagles fans and alcohol will be flowing. They have all been very eager for us to down/out. I don't know if it is southern hospitality or just financial sense…
6. Things to think about
a. If we want a group rate, the contract (the commitment) should be signed by May 1 as the folks I've talked to said rooms are going quickly…that's probably just a sales ploy.
b. I will be out of town until Thursday. At that time, I should have received more proposals and will forward them onto you.
c. It would be easiest if I could just post these proposals, but most contain pictures, etc. So if you guys have any ideas let me know…maybe post on a private website? Want everybody on the same page.

Thanks for looking into all of this, Beta.
Hyatt sounds pretty decent with its sports bar and what not... plus having stayed in other Hyatts you are getting a good deal at those places. Guessing we should decide pretty soon?

Goin' to a Georgia game is somethin' to see. Un-friggin'-believable girls and proof that there are huge football fans in Georgia, just not pro football fans.
As for seein' talented barmaids, there's no reason to go to a suburb.
The airport hotels aren't that far away from the city. With no traffic, I can be down there in little over 10 minutes and I live near downtown. And like I stated before, downtown sucks. You'd be closer to the places to go, but that's the only highlight.

Wow. Do you do this for a living? Great research. Very impressive. Thanks for all the info.
I wonder how accomodating anyone would be if we could rope in the site owners and hint at a mention of their hospitality.
If there's potential ticket difficulty, I'll wait to make flight arrangements. USAIR has FF redemption blacked out surrounding that time period. Flights are still incredibly cheap. I only checked USAIR, but it was under $250 RT. I'll check w/Sidestep tomorrow, if I get the chance from the office. I'm only looking at PHL to ATL.

Beta- HOLY CRAP man!~ Nice stinkin work!
For Hotels: I can go as cheap as everyone wants to for the true 700level experience (we ARE in fact only restin our heads there and the more extra bucks you have, the more flexibility you have for other ventures) or I can high step it and go Hyatt too,(the sportsbar is a nice call) tho kinda seems a waste IMO. The breakfast buffet costs mean nothing to me as I wont be partaking, regardless of where we stay- breakfast food (to me) is gross.
Hooligan- If you opt to fly outta DC- you save over a hundred bucks on your rd trip ticket.
Saw em at 180 rd trip outta DC just last wk.

You really shouldn't have to check in and out all as a group. I've had to make arrangements like this many times, and that's never been a problem before. I wonder why in this case they're doing that. I may have a contact down there, let me see the meetings I've done in the last year.

Whats the likelyhood of scoring UGA tickets to Saturdays game? That would absolutely push this thing OVER THE TOP on the list of great road trips.
