All I can say is that we went out, had a great time, and we came back. I sincerely wish that was the case with everyone else yesterday, but it isn't. Regardless of the circumstance, what happened was tragic, plain & simple.

They are reporting he was a BOY SCOUT at age 13. I'm pleadin ignorance here b/c I was never a Scout, but should there be boys at age 13/14 in the Scouts?

Im thinking this was a troop for kids maybe with special needs or something>?

1) The wittnesses say he was told REPEATEDLY to stop jumpin up and down and wouldnt stop. (jumpin up and down seems like somethin a 6 yr old would find amusin, not a 13 yr old, IMO)

2) Again, are there actual troops for teenagers? I find that a tad curious.

From their official site:

"Boy Scouting is available to boys who are 11 through 17 years old. The program achieves the BSA's objectives of developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness"

Except the Falls dont sport a propeller that can turn you into a chum slick, which is now apparently what happened...

Read that some of his clothing was on the propeller...that and the blood in the water?
ugh.

There's some speculation that they might have been trying to duplicate a stunt they saw on "Deadliest Catch". In one sequence, the crewmen jump up when the boat is at the crest of a wave, then as the boat falls away you get the appearance and sensation of floating.

I think I saw that in an episode of Nick and Jessica. In all seriousness where the hell are the kids parents. It was bad weather and the water looked rough as hell from the news reports.

Seth it's not unusual for a 13 year old boy to act like a small child.

And a Boy Scout can be as old as 17. I really don't think that just because he was jumping up and down despite being told not to means he was some type of special ed kid.

A body found last night off Cape May Point, N.J., has been tentatively

> identified as that of a Boy Scout who fell overboard during a
> whale-watching trip. Nicholas Johs, 14, of Staten Island, N.Y., was
> not wearing a life jacket on April 30 when he was thrown from the bow
> of the 65-foot Whale Watcher II.
> The body was spotted about 7 p.m. about a quarter-mile south of the
new
> U.S. Coast Guard Station in Lower Township, Cape May County, said Sgt.
> Gerald Lewis, a state police spokesman. "We're fairly sure it is the
> young man," Lewis said. The Coast Guard recovered the body,
> transported it to the state
police's
> Bivalve Station, and notified the boy's family. An autopsy was
underway
> this afternoon to confirm the identify.
> Johs and several other scouts had been jumping up and down on the bow
of
> the vessel as it negotiated choppy seas. Shortly before Johs plunged
into
> the 49-degree water, the group had been told to stop jumping. About 30
> people, including his father, Steven, were aboard when Johs fell,

I'll tell you what...I must have had 30 stripers on my line on that cold, windy day on the bay. Yes, the sea was angry that day and the God Neptune thwarted my efforts to reel in the Ocean's treasure. I will be avenged.

It's fall...just sayin'!

Technically, the bye week would have worked out nicely, but seems like it's a little late for it.

Those fish are probably still laughin' their balls off at me and I have to sit here and take it.
